Aprilia to rework SR150 front suspension and tyres

Aprilia is working towards making changes to the existing suspension settings on the SR150. It is also close to localising the tyres for the scooter which are currently imported from Thailand.

The SR150 is the best handling scooter in the market today. The same goes for its braking ability. But, the ride quality, courtesy the stiff setup for its front forks, has come in for some criticism by owners in general. The front end of the scooter when ridden over poorly surfaced roads does tend to bob around excessively. Aprilia will rectify this by bringing in an adjustable fork setup in a few months time. These new forks will also fit the existing SR150 range and should improve the ride quality of the scooter significantly. 

As far as tyres go, there's nothing wrong with the Vee Rubber the scooter comes shod with currently. In fact, these tyres are fantastically grippy, especially on dry tarmac. However, being an import item both the pricing and availability might be an issue for owners going forward. To ease this - and improve the cost effectiveness of the SR150 - Aprilia is already working with MRF to locally produce tyres with the exact same specifications. The SR150, for those not in the know, runs 14-inch tyres, making it the only two-wheeler in the country to run this size.

It's not clear though, if Aprilia will continue to equip the SR150 with Vee Rubber as an option once the MRFs hit the market.
