Ducati India aims to double sales in next 2 years

Ducati India is aiming to double its sales in the next two years. The Italian manufacturer sold nearly 600 bikes in 2016.

The company plans to achieve the 100 per cent growth by expanding its dealership network to 12 from the current five. Along with this, the Italian manufacturer will launch new motorcycles like the Multistrada 950, the Monster 797 and the new Supersport this year that will help the company increase its market share and overall sales.

Ducati isn’t planning to assemble or manufacture any of its bikes in India. It will continue to import its bikes from the Thailand and Italian facilities via the completely-built-up (CBU) route. The current annual sales figure of 7000 in the big bike category isn’t large enough for Ducati to invest in an assembly plant in the country.

Bikes like the Diavel nd the Monster 821 have helped the company achieve the 600 units sales figure in the country. With new introductions like the Multistrada 950 and the Monster 797, Ducati might be able to achieve its new sales target but only if there aren’t drastic policy changes by the government.
