Hero unveils new 125cc Glamour in Argentina

Hero MotoCorp has unveiled what it calls its first-ever global product in the form of the new 125cc Glamour. The new Glamour which will be manufactured and sold in India and will also replace the existing bike, was unveiled in Buenos Aires, Argentina marking Hero’s entry into the country.

As for the bike, the new Hero Glamour 125 gets a completely different engine from the existing Glamour and ditches the sloper format for a vertically oriented engine. The engine itself gets Hero’s own TOD or Torque on Demand technology and the new bike, like the Splendor 110 and the Achiever before it, is BS-IV compliant as well.

The new Glamour 125 will continue to be available with the option of fuelling via a carburetor or a fuel injection system, but the former now uses a CV type carb. The new bike also gets a much-needed power boost, which should put it on par wtih (if not above) the competition in terms of real world performance. The new 125cc, single overhead cam, air-cooled engine now produces a maximum power output of 11.4bhp at 7,500rpm while the torque rating has climbed to 11Nm at 6,500rpm.

According to Hero MotoCorp, this means a significant 27 per cent jump in power and an increase in 6 per cent in overall torque compared to the current Glamour.  Fuel efficiency too is up by three per cent for the carb version and seven per cent for the FI version. The 0-60kmph claimed time for the new Glamour 125 is 6.03 seconds for the carb and 5.64 seconds for the FI version, which should make it more fun to ride too. Furthermore, the bike also gets Hero’s patented i3s start-stop system.

The new Glamour 125 has been completely redesigned as well. It sports all-new styling that’s both more muscular and sporty and it comes in two-tone paint jobs that include black with blue, black with red and black with grey besides a completely red paint job.

In terms of features, the new Glamour 125 gets new part-digital-part-analog instrumentation with read-outs for speed, fuel level, trip and fuel efficiency. The bike also gets Automatic Headlamp On or AHO and tubeless tyres as standard while customers have a choice to choose between a front drum or disc brake option.

When launched the new Hero Glamour 125 should be priced between Rs 56,000 to Rs 58,000 depending on the version, and will continue to compete against the likes of the Honda Shine and the Bajaj Discover 125.
