KTM to build 100 RC16 bikes for consumers

When KTM unveiled their MotoGP bike – the RC16, there were rumours about a possible version for the customers as well. Now, the top honcho of the company has confirmed these rumours. 

In an interview with German magazine Speedweek, KTM’s chairman, Stefan Pierer, said that the company will build 100 units of the RC16 bikes for sale. However, these bikes won’t be road legal. The power output is expected to be around 240bhp. The Austrian manufacturer wants to keep the RC16 as close to the MotoGP bike as possible. 

Interestingly, KTM wants to price this bike lower than the Honda RCV 213-S. So expect a price tag of close to 120,000 Euros (Rs 87 lakh). The Japanese bike costs 185,000 Euros (Rs 1.34 crore), mostly thanks to it being a road-legal motorcycle. While the pricing of the KTM is really not affordable, it will be interesting to see exactly how close it will be to the MotoGP machine.
