Ducati has started accepting bookings for the Hyperstrada 939 and Hypermotard 939 for a token of Rs 2 lakh. Both these models are Euro IV compliant versions of the older 821cc models and come with a bigger, cleaner and more powerful 937cc heart.
Aesthetically, there isn’t much that sets the Hyperstrada 939 and Hypermotard 939 apart from the older model, save from the badging of course. Both motorcycles get sportier liveries inspired by the Italian marque’s racing colours, while the hand guards now integrate LED indicators.
Under the skin, both the Hyperstrada and the Hypermotard are based on the same tubular trellis frame. Enclosed in this chassis though, is a majorly upgraded engine. The Testastretta L-twin engine now displaces 937cc and delivers 112bhp and 98Nm of torque. A bored version of the older Monster 821’s unit, this engine also benefits from a new crankshaft, pistons, cylinders, cylinder heads and an updated core for better cooling.
The Hyperstrada and the Hypermotard come with a revised LCD instrument panel and a new exhaust end can. Electronic aids includes Bosch ABS system and traction control. The drive by wire throttle allows these motorcycles to be ridden in three modes – sport, touring and urban. The Hypermotard comes shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres, while the Hyperstrada gets dual sport Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres to suit its character. The Hyperstrada also gets a few other utilitarian bits like a touring screen, comfortable touring seat, passenger grab-handles, side luggage, centre stand, engine sump guard, remote rear suspension pre-load adjuster and two auxiliary 12v power outlets.
While Hypermotard 939 customers can opt for either Ducati red or star white silk, the Hyperstrada 939 is available in just one colour – Ducati red. We can safely expect prices to be hiked by Rs 50,000 for both the models. Both these bike will be introduced quick on heels of the XDiavel, which is rumoured to be the next big launch from Ducati.
