Yamaha signs a MoU with Maharashtra government to set up Yamaha Training Schools

India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM) has recently signed an MoU with the Directorate of Technical Education of Maharashtra for setting up Yamaha Training Schools (YTS) at government technical colleges and polytechnics in the state.

The company's aim is to impart technical training to underprivileged youth and those from the economically weaker sections of society. They will later employ them across Yamaha dealerships as two-wheeler technicians.

With this new initiative, Yamaha has also become the first and the only two-wheeler manufacturer to offer such a course in Maharashtra by partnering with the government run institutes. The company has signed such MoUs earlier with many other organisations all over India and has a total of 27 such agreements. They plan to add more YTS’ in Maharashtra and the next one will be set up at Government Polytechnic College in Pune. This will be the fifth YTS in Maharashtra and the second in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra Technical College.

Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, "The existing skill gap in the industry can be reduced by imparting technical training to younger generations. Yamaha has designed a way to address this concern. Through the Yamaha Training Schools, it will facilitate relatively indigent youngsters to obtain job oriented technical training in two wheeler repair and servicing that meets industry standards."

IYM's initiative is a part of the company's CSR activities and has partnered with many organisations in India to train the economically backward youth about two-wheelers. The company plans to promote and encourage economically backward section of the society to acquire technical knowledge and expertise and eventually secure a stable employment.
