Dealers slowing down sales of the Hero Xtreme

Hero MotoCorp has been selling the Xtreme and Xtreme Sports for quite some time now. However, the popularity of the more expensive Xtreme Sports seems to have overshadowed the Xtreme, as Hero MotoCorp dealers have stopped stocking the standard motorcycle.

The Hero Xtreme is still available on order basis with dealerships accepting bookings for the bike though it currently has a long waiting list. Dealerships are instead pushing customers to go for the better-equipped Xtreme Sports. With a price tag of Rs 75,725 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Xtreme Sports is just Rs 700 more expensive than the Xtreme.

For this extra money, you get a more powerful 150cc engine, which produces 16bhp and 14Nm of torque. The Xtreme Sports looks more muscular than the standard bike thanks to redesigned bodywork and jazzy paint schemes. You also get a new instrument cluster and more comfortable seats. The presence of the new and improved Xtreme Sports and the eventual cannibalism within the brand might have caused dealerships to stop stocking the motorcycle.

The Hero Xtreme goes up against other premium 150cc commuter motorcycles like the Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160, Honda Unicorn 160 and the Yamaha FZ-S Version 2.0.
