Yamaha sales jump by 13 per cent in September

Driven by the success of the fuel-injected FZ series and Alpha scooter, Yamaha India registered a 13 per cent increase in sales in September 2015, as compared to September 2013. The company sold 67,267 two-wheelers in the last month, as compared to 59,325 units it had managed in the corresponding period in 2014.

The fuel-injected FZ series and the Fazer have been instrumental in helping Yamaha register such a significant increase in sales numbers. On the other hand, the Fascino has also accelerated the company’s growth in the scooter segment. The company’s export numbers also experienced a 29 per growth.

Yamaha has set a target of achieving 8.5 lakh units in sales in 2015 and 10 lakh units in 2016. Going by the rate at which the numbers are growing, it seems like the Japanese manufacturer is well on its path of attaining this target. The company is also planning to increase its production capacity, thanks to a new facility in Chennai, which will have a capacity of churning out 4 lakh to 4.4 lakh units, per annum.

Speaking about the company’s growth, Mr Roy Kurian, VP, sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, “The incessant growth numbers are a sign of success of Yamaha’s robust business plan and strategic customer engagement programs. Ahead of the festive season, we are confident that our recent launches and innovative customer connect programs will garner major sales for us and we will be able to post some record numbers in the coming months.”
