BMW recently took the covers off the new R 1300 R roadster. Bearing quintessential BMW design and the famed boxer twin engine configuration, the R 1300 R brings a unique motorcycling flavour to the table. Here’s a look at the bike in images.

The design of the bike, to begin with, is sporty, aggressive, yet quintessential BMW. Whether it is the sharp headlight, muscular fuel tank, and the relatively slender rear, it is quite an interesting design.

What adds to the looks is the single-sided swingarm, stubby exhaust pipe, and the colours. The R 1300 R is available in the Snapper Rocks metallic, Racing Blue metallic, Lightweight Uni, and Blackstorm metallic colours.

Powering the bike is a 1,300cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine making 145bhp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and quickshifter as standard. One can also opt for the Automated Shift Assist system.

The bike gets three ride modes as standard- Eco, Road, and Rain. In addition to these modes, one has the option to get Dynamic and Dynamic Pro modes, which offer a more sporty power delivery.

Under the bodywork, there’s an all-new sheet metal frame and a cast aluminium sub frame. Suspension duties are taken care of by a 47mm USD fork and a revised Paralever EVO unit at the rear.

BMW is expected to launch the R 1300 R later this year. Once launched, it is expected to go up against bikes like the Ducati Streetfighter V2.
