2022 Kawasaki Ninja 650: Details Explained

Kawasaki has launched the 2022 iteration of the Ninja 650 in the US. The company is offering the sports tourer motorcycle in non-ABS and ABS versions. There's also a KRT Edition which gets Kawasaki Racing Team paint scheme. The Japanese automaker already offers the Ninja 650 BS6 in India and is priced at Rs 6.54 lakh ex-showroom. To know more about the 2022 model, let's take a look at the details of the sports tourer motorcycle.

Left Front Three Quarter

Engine

The 2022 Ninja 650 is powered by the same 649cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor that does duty on the BS6 model in India. This engine sits in a trellis frame and delivers 67.3bhp at 8,000 and 64Nm at 6,700rpm. All this power and torque is taken to its wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

Head Light

Design

The new Ninja 650 is a sporty and aggressive looking motorcycle. The fully-faired motorcycle gets underbelly pan, underbelly exhaust, a sharp 15.14-litre fuel tank, a split type seat with a rear grab handle strap and a lean tail section. The non-ABS and ABS variants are available in two colour options: Metallic Matte Graphenesteel/Metallic Diablo Black and Pearl Robotic White/Metallic Carbon Gray. Meanwhile, the KRT Edition is available in Lime Green / Ebony / Pearl Blizzard White paint scheme.

TFT / Instrument Cluster

Features

The sports tourer motorcycle is offered with features like twin LED headlights, TFT-coloured instrument cluster, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity via the Rideology app, ABS and slipper clutch. The Rideology app assists the rider with vehicle info, riding log, phone notifications, and general settings. It further comes with an economical riding indicator that helps the rider to extract the best efficiency from the sports tourer motorcycle.

Front Tyre

Hardware

The ride here is taken care of by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and horizontal back-link suspension at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking it employs a 300mm dual-petal disc at the front and a 220mm single petal-style disc at the rear assisted by dual-channel ABS. The sports tourer motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels. Those wheels are wrapped with Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2  tyres having 120mm width at the front and 160mm width at the rear.
