- 2021 Aprilia RS 125 unveiled
- Sports a design inspired by the RS660
- Headlamp section identical to the SXR 160 maxi scooter
Aprilia has unveiled the 2021 edition of its smallest fully-faired offering, the RS 125, in Italy. The motorcycle is now Euro5-compliant and features Aprilia’s new-age styling that is inspired by the new RS660 supersport.
The most evident cosmetic change has been executed in the front end. The headlamp section looks sleeker and sharper now and it is very much similar to the new Aprilia SXR 160 maxi scooter. Meanwhile, the surrounding cowl has also been subtly revised. Completing the visual changes is a new set of decals that look more eye-catchy. Everything else including the side fairings, the muscular fuel tank and the sharp tail section have been kept unchanged.
Powering the motorcycle is a 125cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is now Euro5-compliant. It churns out 15bhp of peak power at 10,750rpm that is identical to its Euro4 iteration. These specifications are closely similar to the KTM RC 125 that is available in India. However, the Austrian machine makes lesser power at 14.5bhp. As for the hardware, the RS 125 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with upside down forks and a monoshock. Braking is handled by a single disc at both ends with a dual-channel ABS setup.
The Aprilia RS 125 won’t be launched in India. However, the good news is Piaggio had confirmed last year that it will introduce sub-400cc motorcycles in the Indian market sometime around 2023. The company will also bring the Aprilia RS660 and the Tuono 660 to India.
