2019 Triumph Street Twin India launch- What to expect

Triumph Motorcycles India is set to launch the 2019 iteration of the Street Twin in the country on 14 February. The bike gets a complete makeover; cosmetically and mechanically. With the launch just a few days away, we tell you what to expect from the 2019 Street Twin.

Modern-classic appeal

The 2019 Street Twin like its predecessor sports a modern-classic appeal. It exudes the charisma of bikes from the 80s with its round headlamp, minimalistic tank and side panels that add to its appeal. However, the alloy wheels and blacked-out components give it a modern touch. For this year, the motorcycle sports brushed aluminum headlamp brackets, a redesigned seat and instrument cluster and a matte black addition to its colour palette.

More power

Triumph has retuned the 900cc, parallel-twin motor of the outgoing model to produce more power; 10bhp more to be exact. So, the 2019 Street Twin's power output has been bumped up to 64bhp while the torque figures remain at 80Nm. The engine uses a lighter balance and crank shaft along with a magnesium cam cover that help reduce weight.

Better braking and suspension

The motorcycle's braking hardware consists of a four-pot caliper sourced from Brembo wit a 310mm disc brake at the front. For the rear, there is a 255mm disc with a two-pot Nissin caliper. The 2019 Triumph Street Twin also gets an upgraded suspension setup with 41mm cartridge forks offering 120m of travel while the rear continues to offer twin shocks.

Updated electronics package

The outgoing bike offered ABS and traction control as standard. In addition to that, the 2019 version is equipped with two ride modes; Road and Rain as standard along with a tyre monitoring system as an option.

Pricing

While Triumph hasn't revealed details regarding the price of the 2019 Street Twin, we expect it to demand a premium of Rs 20,000-Rs 30,000 over the outgoing model which retails at Rs 7.83 lakhs (ex-showroom).
