Triumph commences deliveries of the Tiger XR

Triumph has commenced deliveries of the new entry-level model in its Adventure range – the Tiger XR. This motorcycle benefits from the lower taxes and custom duties applicable on motorcycles that are locally assembled in the country, and is priced at Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Triumph Tiger XR is based on the same tubular trellis frame which underpins the rest of Tiger 800 range. Powering the Tiger XR is a 799cc inline three-cylinder engine, which delivers 93.7bhp and 79Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission. It comes with a trip computer, sump guard, hazard lights, a 12-volt power port andadjustable brake and clutch levers. The Tiger XR rides on 17-inch rear and 19-inch front cast alloy wheels and gets switchable ABS and traction control. However, being an entry-level model, the Tiger XR misses out on the electronics package which includes riding modes and cruise control.

With the launch of the Tiger XR, Triumph now has four models in its 800cc Tiger family of adventure bikes. With prices ranging from Rs 10.5 lakh for the Tiger XR to Rs 12.7 lakh for Tiger XCx (both ex-showroom, Delhi), Triumph has an adventure motorcycle for a wide range of customers with different budgets and requirements. Besides these, Triumph also sells a 1,200cc Tiger Explorer adventure bike, for those who want a full-fledged adventure bike, at Rs 17.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Tiger 800 XR is available in three paint schemes – crystal white, phantom black and matt khaki green.

Speaking about the new model, Mr Vimal Sumbly, MD, Triumph Motorcycles India said, “We are focused on creating motorcycles with a perfect balance of power, handling and style that totally involve the rider and bring out the best in them. We are extremely happy to announce the launch of the new Tiger XR in just three months from the launch of the Tiger XRx and XCx, which have received tremendous positive response from our esteemed customers in the country. To give an excellent value proposition, the new Tiger XR will be assembled locally through the CKD route in India.”
