Bajaj Auto has reported a 12 per cent decline in the sales of motorcycles in January 2015, as compared to the same period, last year. While the sale of commercial vehicles and the company’s exports has been growing consistently, the company’s domestic sales seem to have taken a hit.
Bajaj sold over 2.88 lakh motorcycles and commercial vehicles in the last month, of which 1.43 lakh units were shipped off to its global markets. Bajaj has been increasingly focusing on its global markets and the sales numbers from the past few months show that the exports of the Pune-based motorcycle manufacturer has been slowly increasing.
While the scooter market in India is growing by leaps and bounds, Bajaj has refused to get into the segment and has been focussing solely on motorcycles. In the next few months, the company will be launching as many as five new models. The company recently expanded its commuter range with the addition of a DTS-I variant of its popular 100cc motorcycle, the Platina at Rs 44,507 (ex-showroom Delhi).\
