DSK-Hyosung to launch GT250N and RT250D by end of 2014

DSK-Hyosung launched the Aquila 250 cruiser at the Auto Expo 2014 and also displayed the GT250N street-bike and the RT125D off-roader at their pavilion. Mr. Kulkarni, CEO DSK-Hyosung, who is also an avid motorcycle enthusiast, also hinted at the big expansion plans for the brand for the calendar year 2014 that included upcoming models and expansion of the dealer network.

The Hyosung GT250N is based on the current GT250R Comet, this time though in a street bike avatar. It has the same 250cc V-twin petrol engine developing 28bhp peak power. The GT250N with its upright riding stance and single piece handle-bar should be a breeze to maneouvre around the tight city traffic and at the same time have enough grunt to propel to the higher side of the hundreds on the highways. Though the rider will suffer wind-blast from above 100 kmph, accessories like the wind-shield could be used to cruise effortlessly at above the three figure mark.

The RT125D, the cross country motorcycle, was also displayed at the DSK-Hyosung pavilion. The styling of the RT125D reminded us of the yesteryear scramblers that are not as difficult as the moto-cross bikes and at the same time apt for on-road as well as off-road usage. As we spoke to Mr. Kulkarni, we were surprised to know that the DSK-Hyosung brand is planning to get the RT250D rather than the 125, thus carving another niche for itself in the motorcycle market.

Both the motorcycles will be launched by the end for this year, one around September and the other around November. We keep our fingers crossed for some aggressive pricing given the fact that the Hero HX250 as well as the KTM RC200 and may be launched somewhere around the same time.
