Honda may launch CBR500R in India early next year

Honda may launch the CBR500R in the Indian market in 2014 according to a report from Motorbeam. However, we are almost certain that it will be displayed at the Auto Expo scheduled to begin in February 2014.

The Honda CBR500R sports tourer was unveiled a year ago. The fully-faired motorcycle has looks that will get the buyer excited. Placed between the Street-fighter and Adventure variants of the same, the CBR500R comes with identical underpinnings and is equipped with the same engine seen on its former siblings.

The Honda CBR500R is powered by a parallel-twin 500cc liquid-cooled engine which churns out 47bhp of power and 43Nm of torque. Honda currently does not offer any motorcycles in the 500cc segment in India. To be primarily brought via the CBU route to India, we can expect CKD units of the motorcycle as well. The Honda CBR500R will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM Duke 390. The ABS version is expected to be offered at a price close to Rs four lakh in India.

The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer seems to be pepping up its strategy of bringing its wide range of motorcycles to India. After China, India is the biggest motorcycle market which the company can target. The advent of competitive motorcycles from different manufacturers will definitely bring about a big change in the motorcycling scene in India.
