Scoop: Kawasaki Z800 to be launched in India in early 2014

Just a few days ago we got you the news regarding the India bookings of the Kawasaki Z1000 that has begun. And today we bring you exclusive news, as confirmed by a source to BikeWale, the Kawasaki Z800 will be launched in India in early 2014.

The company is planning to launch the middle-weight machine soon after the 2014 Auto Expo. This will make it the second motorcycle from the Kawasaki’s ‘Z’ family (Z1000 launching in January 2014) and sixth from the company’s portfolio to be officially launched in India. The first few lots of the Z750 replacer will come through the completely-built-up (CBU) route but if the company sees good volumes, they will consider getting the Z800 through the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route from Thailand.

The Kawasaki Z800 is powered by the 806cc liquid-cooled inline four engine that churns out 113PS of peak power at 10,200 rpm and 83Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and the bike has a top speed of 233 kmph. It gets full digital instrumentation displaying tons of information. With the aggressive front cowl and a sharp under-cowl, the motorcycle doesn’t look as mean as the 2014 Z1000 but it will surely attract many enthusiasts from the country.

The Kawasaki Z800 is expected to be launched with a mouthwatering price tag of sub - Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). In Europe, the bike is available in three colours but expect India to get only the Candy Flat Blazed Green colour. Stay tuned to BikeWale as we uncover more details on the India-bound Kawasaki Z800.
