HMSI records highest ever sales in July 2013

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has recorded its highest ever sales during its 13 years of operations in July 2013. The company achieved 20 per cent growth in July 2013 by selling 2, 87,177 units as compared to 2, 39, 04 units in the corresponding month last year.

The Japanese company’s motorcycles sales increased by 35 per cent and exceeded scooter sales which grew by 8 per cent. Motorcycle sales stood at 1, 47,635 whereas the scooter sales were at 1, 39,542. The high motorcycle growth was a result of great demand for the Dream Series.

The company currently stands in 2nd position in the domestic two-wheeler market which is currently led by Hero MotoCorp. The scooter segment growth may increase next month as the company has started manufacturing the Activa from their third plant in Narsapura, Karnataka.

“Today Honda created a new chapter in its Indian operations with three new records, in July 13, Honda have achieved highest ever sales, highest domestic market share of 24 per cent and also became 2nd largest player in domestic and export sales in two wheeler industry. This is largely attributed to the overwhelming demand for Dream series and the increase in production with start of 2nd production line at the third factory in Narsarpura, Karnataka,” said Y S Guleria, vice president, sales and market, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
