Royal Enfield has launched the much awaited Thunderbird 500 for Rs 1,82,571 (on road Mumbai). The new Thunderbird is powered by the same 499cc twin-spark single-cylinder engine from the Classic 500, which develops 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of torque. Royal Enfield has also refreshed the TBird 350cc based on the new model, which will now cost Rs 1,43,336 (On Road Mumbai).

The most noticeable change in the Thunderbird 500 over the existing 350cc model is the new powerful 55W projector headlamp with light guide. The low beam light at the front is 55W halogen, while the rear again has LED tail lamp with light guide. The new bike gets a digital instrument cluster with LCD, clock, trip meter, digital fuel level indicator, malfunction indicator lamp and hazard function. The Thunderbird 500 also has a redesigned front end with 41mm thick front shocks and an all-new swing arm at the back. The fuel tank capacity is increased to 20 litres with tear drop tank design.

There are certain changes to the bike to make it more comfortable than the Thunderbird 350. The foot peg position has been changed, along with redesigned seats. The handlebar and pillion grab rail are also new keeping in with the trend. However, at 195kg the new TBird 500 weighs a bit more than the 350cc model.

The Thunderbird 500 is available in three shades of black - Flicker Black, Twilight Black and Stone (matt Black). The Matt Black will not be avaiable in the TBird 350.
