We spent some time with the new SP 125 to find out if, despite losing the ‘Shine’ moniker, does the motorcycle still shine in the real world?

Scooters are the flavour of this age. After their monumental rise, fall and the recent resurgence in the Indian market, scooters have now become the cash cows for several two-wheeler manufacturers in the country. While the Activa and the Splendor continue to be embroiled in a fistfight for the top spot in the two-wheeler market, scooters are now being looked at as alternative to motorcycles rather than just a secondary vehicle. 

Looking at the Ntorq’s success, Suzuki too has attempted to emulate TVS by bringing its own 125cc sporty scooter, the Avenis 125. So, how much has Suzuki succeeded in doing that?

TVS Motor Company has announced the launch of the 2021 Ntorq 125 Race XP which is by far the most powerful variant of the 125cc scooter. We tested the scooter in various riding conditions to bring you a detailed road test review.

After using the TVS Ntorq mostly in the city confines, it was time to take it out on the open highway to see if it still manages to impress us. 

The Pulsar 125. It looks exactly like the Pulsar 150 Neon because, well, Bajaj hasn’t bothered changing anything in terms of design or even a single body panel. But it has a smaller engine, a 125cc single cylinder air-cooled unit. 

Since, its inception in 2007, it has managed to strike a sweet balance between performance, styling and comfort. Over the years, Suzuki has improved this scooter thus making it a better product with every iteration.

The 125cc scooter segment has suddenly become as popular as the 110cc space. Customers want more power and features. They also have more disposable income. So most of the manufacturers are hustling their way into this spectrum because no one wants to lose this opportunity. Suzuki has been in this space for a while now, with the Access 125. But it took things to a whole new level with the new Access 125 which was launched in early 2016. It had the right ingredients to not only make it an exciting scooter, but also a value-for-money scooter. But now, it has a sporty rival, the Aprilia SR 125 which promises to offer the same amount of excitement, if not better. But is it a value for money purchase? Let’s find out!
