I owned the black one. It's look like a black demon. Easy buying process. Its exhaust sound is very immersive like hearts beat ' dhhakk...Dhhakk..... It's performance is like a wild tiger. The bhp is little bit lower in this bike among the other 250 cc bike. Abs system is missing but still totally controllable.

  • An extremely powerful and most good looking naked bike in this segment with few cons.

    Mushir Nawaz Khan

Everything is good and fine except the 3 cons I want to count on are 1: The headlamps - Most of the Fz25 owners face difficulties in night riding because its headlamps aren't powerful enough. 2 : I felt the need of an extra gear in highway rides. Its a 5 gear transmission bike. 3 : Bike's speedometer doesn't display much information and it's quite a small LCD as compared to other bikes. In fact Fz 150 speedometer is big compared to Fz25. Rest everything is all Good. :) It's a honest review and maybe other fz25 owners may agree with me on these three points. Last but not the least I love my bike.

Simply the most underrated indian bike! They say it has only 20bhp.. They say it has only 5 gears.. They say it's not a liquid cooled engine.. They it has no vva.. They say the bike parts rust (esp exhaust pipe)..The bike has 20.9ps actually.. The number looks deceiving, it is a faster overall bike than any bike under it's price point (1.34-1.36 lacs exshowroom) in india..The bike looks muscular, understated, timelessly handsome.. The build quality, fit n finish is amongst the best.. A typical yamaha.. The exhaust rust issue is fully resolved in the 2019 model as it gets an anti rust unit..The bike's 5 gears are perfectly positioned n in sync with the engine characteristics! the bike doesn't need a 6th gear.. The bike can't hit the rev limiter in the 5th gear itself, what's the point in a 6th gear!.. The bike's top speed is 141@9250rpm which is 132 genuine.. It is not a liquid cooled engine coz it's compression ratio is 9.8:1 n therefore its not required.. The bike cools very well with the 4 row oil cooler.. Vva is required for high revving r15 coz the low n mid range torque is ordinary n needs some assistance.. The fz25 has excellent torque spread right from start till it's complete rev band.. It's a simple engine with no high tech wizardry as no gimmicky tech is required for this engine.. Yamaha knows how to design their engines.. They're the world no.2 for a reason! The bike's nvh is superb! the bike remains smooth even at 130kmph!! not only for the rider but also for the pillion!! the clutch pull has perfect weight n isn't ultra soft/ light nor heavy to give pain to the fingers.. Gearshifts are always positive.. No mis shifts or false neutrals.. World-class fueling thanks to a superbly tuned fi system which aids in brilliant throttle response..The bike packs great comfort for the rider as well as pillion with it's great ergonomics! perfect fatigue free riding triangle for both short, medium n tall riders.. Wide n cushy seats n brilliant ride quality makes the bike amongst the best to spend time on!.. Takes up bad roads with great composure n compliance.. The bike has good cornering clearance with adequately raised up rider footpeg n the diamond chassis does a very good job for cornering, overall stability n handling.. It's a fun bike to ride in city, highway n hills alike.. It's 152kg kerb weight is same as 200cc bikes! which helps it to be easy in urban jungle for everyday use.. Wheelbase of 1360mm gives it a perfect balance between city maneuvering n highway stability.. It's easy to park n push it if required.. The dual channel abs unit works brilliantly n provides the reassured safety in all conditions..The bike gives 37kmpl in city conditions which is great for a 250cc!! out on the highway it should easily cross 40+kmpl.. Even at a cruising speed of 120+, the bike gives me 30+kmpl on the highway which is tremendous!!The headlamp illumination is ordinary n adequate for city for speeds below 80kmph.. You have to add aux lights for additional light for confidence esp on highways.. The mrf tyres that come stock are below average n therefore needs an upgrade to a good quality pirellis ideally..The bike needs service once in 6 months/ 5000kms n therefore it's easy on the pocket.. The service bill including oil change n taxes work out to rs.2200 every 6 months.. At 1.75 lacs on road bangalore, it's a very good value for money.. Just the perfect practical machine and a great allrounder!!

  • Value for money and a no frills bike.

    Hamza Vora

I have been using this bike for 3 years now and this is my honest opinion of it. Firstly the most important aspect of this bike is it's value for money proposition. It is not just the cheapest 250cc bike but also very pocket friendly in terms of service and maintenance.
The highlight of this bike is it's bullet proof engine. Surely it is not the fastest nor the most refined engine but is does it's job very well 99% of the time. You can be sure that this engine won't leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. I used to own a pulsar ns200 before and every time before planning a trip i had to check its oil and coolant levels and in spite of every precaution you could still end up with some very difficult situations.
With the fz 25 I don't have to worry about all that. You just have that peace of mind trusting the Japanese reliability. Also the handling and suspension are good enough if not the best. The thing about fz 25 is that is was made as a practical bike for all purposes and that it has a engine that is good for city and highway, suspension that is decent for handling but also provides comfort, brakes that are potent enough but lack that sharpness. So this bike will do everything you want it to do well enough at the cost of not being the best in any particular thing.
The cons of the bike are noticed only when you spend time with it- the harshness of engine above a particular speed, a feeling of instability at higher speeds. These are very minor issues and can be lived with but one thing you should know before buying is that if you are an experienced rider then you will get bored of this bike very easily that is it does not excite you and its not because of the power, it has more to do with the engine character which feels very commuter friendly.
I recently rode a gixxer 250 and it blew me away. Although the performance is on par with the fz 25 the gixxer just feels more better at everything be it accelerating, cornering or braking. It makes you heart race which the fz 25 fails after a period of time. All in all given the price difference fz 25 is much better vfm than the gixxer 250 but if money wasn't an issue gixxer 250 is the better bike in my opinion.

  • Yamaha fz25 2 years user review

    Mohamed Sahil

Yamaha fz25 is one of the excellent decisions i have made in my life. It has superb riding comfort and more economic to me. The purchase of fz25 was too hazzle free and lesser or i dont have any kind of headaches during the process of purchasing the vehicles. The dealership as well as customer care service was astonishing and satisfying. The riding position us absolutely comfort even for longer rides (travelled approx. 150 kms in single stretch and no issues in comfort). The passenger sitting position is on the stiffer side and not recommended for passenger comfort. As there are a number of fz s on the road fz25 is absolutely standing outside the crowd in terms of looks. Truly sportier look than any of the bikes on this budget. The performance is also up to the mark. It wont disappoint you whenever you require a power. The power delivery is absolutely fantastic. Sometimes i may experience some lag but that too negligible. Yamaha is providing one of the best in class service with lesser pricing. The spares are available at the stretch of hands and don't need to wait for a long period for the spares or any kind of accessories. Its about 2 years am riding this machine and very small amount of cash has only spent on the service side. Pros 1.Great mileage even with city rides2.Less maintenance cost3.Superb riding comfort4.Great after sales service5.Sporty looksCons1.Passenger comfort not satisfiable2.More plastic body parts3.Size issues (width).

    Vipin Vinod K.P

Its been almost 2 months and 5000 kms with my fz25. The bike is in my parking looking fresh after the second service, which only cost me 1200/-.

    About the bike

If you are one of those people who considers public road as a race track this may not be the bike for you, it's for the riders who like to have a fun in a bit relaxed manner, not to kill yourself. It's not a widow maker.

    Looks

The bike looks awesome with its naked, clean, mean, mature and muscular design. It looks good in the flesh. May be that's why yamaha didn't use any graphic lines or big words printed on it. I love it.

    Engine

The engine offers a lot of torque than horsepower. I guess that's the reason i was able to do very quick overtakes, ride at 35kmph in top gear and do win a lot of drag races on signals (well...Most of the time).

Most of all it sounds so good; heard yamaha did a lot of work to make it sound like this; thanks for that.

Fuel injection system made the throttle very responsive and quick.

The oil cooling combined with air cooling works perfectly. The engine never heats up

    How it goes

The sitting posture and the ride is a bit more sporty compared to the previous fz. The bike is perfect for the city as well as long rides. Going through a long stretch of mountain roads with lot of twisties and windies will give you immense pleasure, i loved taking it to hill stations. It handles corners beautifully, but, not sure if it will let you drag your knees on it.

    Mileage

I am getting around 35kmpl in city and 47 to 49kmpl in long drives(seriously)

    What i don't like

The rear view mirrors are made for looks, not to look at. They are not that helpful.

I wish yamaha had offered abs as a option (if someone needs it)

The headlights are pretty good, not awesome.

Handle grips becomes very slippery in rain.

The instrument cluster is clear but does not look very good (like the apache rtr 200) also lacks a gear indicator.

I think its pretty obvious what i think about this bike, yes...I love it. It's perfect. I guess yamaha made it for the mature audiences, not for the youngsters who are eager to ride and die.I hear people mention thinks like "no liquid cooling" "no 6th gear", but i think both are not needed for this bike. I consider this as a smaller variant of bmwr9t. Most of all its a yamaha.

Its a excellent bike to ride for daily use as well as long ride.In 250cc segment mileage is also class leading. It gives around 35 to 38 kmpl. Yamaha also give full led head light which is first in its segment and night visibility is superior than others. It comes with light weight frame which is delectation fell at all time.

  • Fz 25 genuine review after 8 months of ownership and riding 12000 km.

    Karnakar Reddy Pasula

I felt it is worth for money, i got fz 25 @ 1.5l on road.**travelled distance** i have ridden 12000km. I went for some trips also. **mileage** in bangalore traffic i can see average of 32. On highway 35-38. **petrol** i am using shell normal petrol.**breakdown** i never faced any issue of this kind. **bike performance** great pick up, good strength and comfortable back seat also compared to fz -s. Some times i used to felt that gears are hard but. That was my riding issue. I used ride this bike as other bikes. No. We should not ride like that. For up shifts hold the clutch rev down and put some pressure on gears. Now so smooth. **top speed** i went @ 135 kmph after that due to vehicles stopped down. I wanted to test its max speed. @ 135 also i have not seen any vibrations of handle but @ 80-90 the mirrors will start to vibrate.**braking** good braking, unfortunately there is no abs. But i never felt it is needed. ** lights** average focus. **look** sexy look, it will grab your eyes.Thanks.

    Abhishek Das

If you buy the bike, upgrade the tyres to Pirelli Angel CT on both sides.. preferably Pirelli's Diablo Rosso 2 on the rear.. You have to add a pair of aux lights worth Rs.1000 for additional reassuring light in the night..

  • It's a black demon

    Abhishek Das

If you buy the bike, upgrade the tyres to Pirelli Angel CT on both sides.. preferably Pirelli's Diablo Rosso 2 on the rear.. You have to add a pair of aux lights worth Rs.1000 for additional reassuring light in the night..
