Buying experience can be better. Showroom people seems just lazy while interacting with the customer and often times, customer has more knowledge about bike than them. Coming to the bike, you will either hate it or love it, there is no in between. I just love it. I bought it after planning of more than a year. No matter how expensive its service gets, I can't complain. But you have to have a strong bond with this machine to be able to keep it for long, otherwise your patience might break and you might want to sell. Engine is very decent for city commute and occasional rides. You might want to have better seats for longer rides though. It will vibrate when it reaches 100kmph, but its best performance comes in between 60-80kmph, as its a cruiser bike not a sports bike so go easy on the throttle. Also if you continuously ride it at higher power, then you have to change its oil quite frequently,as it chugs oil a lot at higher throttle. Overall, its a part of me now so no complaints. Again, either you will seriously love it or hate it, there is no in between.

  • Overall a nice bike

    Aurokanti Jena

I got my thunderbird 350 on 5th Nov, 2012. I never had any riding experience with re before that. I used to ride a rajdoot and occasionally a honda aviator. The showroom took 3 months to deliver my bike. Re really needs to work on the waiting period. I have already covered 35000 km on this bike. It really feels great to ride on tb. It is very comfortable compared to other re bikes. After riding this for nearly 5 years, i feel very uncomfortable riding any other bike due to the cruiser sitting position. Mileage is around 42 km with a combination of city and highway riding. Everybody says it is a high maintenance bike. But i never felt that. I service it every 5000 km. There is no other maintenance required in between service.Pros 1 - good sitting position for both rider and pillion.2 - nice head light 3 - large fuel tank 4 - many complain about it being unreliable. But it never gave me any problem so far. I find it very reliable.5 - good engine Cons 1 - digital speedometer is very bad quality. Fuel gauge doesn't show correct level. Speedometer vibrates while riding. I got it welded.2 - silencer was rusted in 4 years. But i was happy as i hated that silencer. It didn't give the re thumping sound. Now i got a good thumping sound silencer.3 - gearbox is no better than my old rajdoot motorcycle. You will always get false neutral. Gear shifting is also not smooth. It takes time to get a hang of it. 5 - they provide plastic mirror with bike. You need to replace those.6 - service persons at showroom are not qualified enough.7 - spare part cost is very high. I replaced a footrest for 560 rupees. My headlight got stolen. Bought another one for 6700 rupees. If you replace your speedometer, that costs around 7000 rupees.

  • Tbts rider not willing to buy re 2nd time.

    A R Sureshkumar

Buying experience: the waiting period of the bike is little long. The showrooms are aesthetically good. There is always a bike available for test drive. Every customer is received well and the esquire is answered with at most care. The accessories available are explained in detail. Finance options are guided well. Overall you will never come out without paying advance for the bike.Service & maintenance: there are limited service centres in the city. Considering the volume of bikes sold, the service centre needs to be increased definitely. Guess re is already working on this and we can see year on year addition of service centres. The spares and maintenance cost is bit high. As the bikes get older the parts needs to be changed and the cost is bit higher. But the explanation from re is, considering the cost of bike the servicing are expected to be little higher. The wearable parts mileage is not that good, for ex: the break shoes need to be replaced for every 4~5k km for a decent city ride. The chain sprocket is changed in 15k km. There is always some kind of oil leak somewhere in the engine and every 6k km you need to replace the seal somewhere or the other. The service centre facility is good and you are treated with respect. The details of the issues are explained clearly and the parts are changed only if necessary. Riding experience: its a heavier bike and that is not felt once the vehicle starts moving. The suspension are little stiff. This can be felt easily when you ride without pillion rider. The ride position is comfortable for almost all heights of person. Performance: the engine power is good. With good torque in the wheels, 0 to 60kmph can be easily achieved even with pillion rider. The clutch and gear are bit hard. There is always a big noise when you shift to the first gear. The vibration from the engine and the lack of power can be felt when we try to push the vehicle about 80kmph. The chrome quality used to be usp in 90's for re. But now the chrome quality is not good. There are rust formation every where after few years. One has to do something or other to keep the chrome shining. The re is not a bike which can be left in garage for a long as it will show its age if not maintained. There are not much of feature in the vehicle. The brand and the looks are the only driver for the sales of the vehicle. Re should focus to bring in more value proposition to the vehicle in future. For a bike of 1.7lak the feature and usp is very less. With more global brands coming in there is a risk of re losing its race if this is not considered. There is only first time buyers of the bike and not 2nd time buyers. The fuel economy is also that great. It could have been improved. For city the re 350 delivers max 33kmpl for a non aggressive rider. Considering the other competition which will come in near future these figures are not that great. Pros:Brand name, riding comport, pillion rider comfort, performance (speed Cons:Lesser service centre, less fe, power to weight ratio is less, not much attractive feature, inferior chrome quality.

  • Very disappointed about thunderbird 350 - oil leakage

    Naveen

Am very disappointed after buying this thunderbird from royal enfield brand.Really i was very eagerly waiting for the bike after booking. I got my bike after 1 month max time.I travel 70km per day to the office and that too highway only. After 2nd service onward my bike found oil leakage in the engine cylinder near that spark plug.In 3rd service i informed and raised the complaint regarding this and they told to replace the oil seal, gasket etc. And they raised the bill for rupees 750 for this oil leakage purpose only.Again in 4th service also same problem but in different location oil leakage. They getting more cost for this bike but the spares like rubber items are all very worst low quality.Service is also poor. They didn't check the tyre pressure also after i had informed also. Now totally i fed up and plan to sell the bike immediately.I request all no to go for this brand because of getting more problem after crossing the 10000km itself.

  • Ultimate riding pleasure

    Indrajit Roy

The royal enfield thunderbird 350 is an ultimate riding pleasure. The buildup quality is awesome. With first 8 days of ownership and 400 km city commute , best bike for riding, comfort and city traffic. Overall riding experience is super. I feel the seat could have been better. It's one awesome cruiser to drive !! at times, we might feel the speedometer is bit shaking when we drive but it won't disturb our driving. We can literally feel the power & the comfort of the bike. It's truly a perfect bike for a long ride.

  • Pathetic aftersales support

    Chandan

I am wondering if re takes their customers seriously after the product is sold. Please invest in aftersales support re, I am surprised how such an established brand can not manage one small grievance of a customer who has been loyal for 10+years. Not appreciated re, I hope to hear from your team on a resolution please.

  • This Bike can be a part of you, just take good care of it

    Shishir

    Siddharth

First thing ,the joy of purchasing the thunderbird itself is thrilling. At first look it look quite familiar with few models of the harley's But don't go by the looks it's quite fast i think beyond your expectations in my opinion.Glossy paint on the fuel is one the main attraction when u see the bike for the first time.Royal enfield took the phrase serious that "first impression is the last impression and this bike stand on it's expectations. Till now i have not encounter any problem with this bike. And who will forget about the chrome treatment on the handle and the exhaust and even on the wheels too...

  • Driving the thunder beast...

Not reliable bike for long tour. I have very bad experiences Even before the journey i have already done bike service by the local authorized royal enfeald service center. But i don't feel any work by service center during my journey. The most terrible journey by the royal enfield thunderbird. Problem 1.Chain noise 2.Rear valve bearing damaged 3 time during single journey. 3.Noise from engine ..Irritating 4.Oil leakage 5.Noise in front shock absorber 6. Fuel information indicator not working Etc..Model royal enfield thunderbird 350 ..Sep 15 model.
