    M J Kishore

The total cost for the bike i have spent 2.2 lak, and riding experience is very smooth but the problem with 500cc i have faced is, the sensors.. Any problem we can't take the bike to local mechanic.. And while servicing the showroom people not up to the mark... The complaint i have given, i should say them again and again.. But they won't rectify them..

The thump of a royal Enfield and a 500cc engine is an experience to behold while discovering new roads and less traveled paths. Re classic 500 has a smooth riding experience, sleek looks and a value for money option for road trips. The servicing assistance is available almost in most remote places within India and the spare parts are easily available as well.

The company is there for more than 50 years and had set lots of record in riding and also world record in stunts so i am very happy to be a rider of royal enfield made like a gun.

  • Love the ride live the life with a bullet

    Sagar Dharmahattikar

    Hi team,

The reason for me writing this review is because my classic 500 was my dream bike and i always had a passion to own a bullet. I always knew that it was going to be a trouble of owning a bullet and the time it takes to be on road but still owning one has its own charm and whenever i ride my bike i only have a feeling that my money spent was perfect.

I had bought the bike second hand from a person who was interested in selling his bike as the showroom had a waiting period of 10 months when i had bought it.It was the same black colour i was looking for and was happy to have it.The bike had not covered and mileage hence i was the person who going to use her extensively.

Riding a bullet is like riding a tank in itself that is what i always feel you get a planted ride and thump of riding a bullet. For sure it has its own share of problems like bullets are prone to fish tailing a lot at high speeds they lack abs and quality of parts have degraded a lot in the recent years which increases the cost of ownership a lot and there have many experiences of the bike skidding due to low quality mrf tyres.I have resolved the issue by upgrading the tyres and this had helped a lot.

The look of the bike is typically old school and is the same for so many years and will be same in the coming year as well but the all metal never fails to impress me as you know you are riding a bike full of metal and not fiber.

Servicing of a bullet can be a cheap or a costly affair depends upon how much you know the bike and how you maintain the bike. These bikes got famous and are widely famous because they offer the owner to service there own bikes and the same is in my case too.I maintain and service the bike myself and go in details of each and every problem failed. This has helped me in creating a bond with my bike and also enjoy my rides.

Royal enfield fuel pump goes kaput often and the cost is 14000 i had resolved the problem by changing the motor of the fuel pump and i advise people worldwide for the same as i am the only person which has done it and the cost is 1000 rs only.

Fish tailing is due to fibre bush in the swing arm and this creates fish tailing i had resolved it by changing it to iron rod and it changed all the thing for the bike.

Same goes with tyres i had upgraded tyres to bigger diameter and better gripping tyres which resulted in good handling.

I do maintain most of the bike myself to keep all things in check.

    Pros:

You get to ride a vintage bike

Metal instead of fibre give you a longer life

Basic engine has less moving parts

    Sturdy stance and glory

    Cons :

Maintenance cost can be high and quality issues pertain to all the parts.

Fishtailing effect add the risk of accident

Niggling issues increase with the age of bike

    You cannot vouch for quality

Fuel pump and tank are very bad quality and need to be checked urgently.

The bike which fulfill all of your dreams. I love this bike because of its powerful engine which gives more power to the bike. Last month i was went to ladakh (himachal pradesh) that was on too height i was thinking i cant ride this bike on this height but seriously i want to say you guys royal enfield is just an awesome bike which cant take any load, my bike color is military green which shines in sun light. But maintenance is little high as compared to other bikes, mileage is low,and weight is little high for skinny people, but it feels us like a king with its royal ride experience , i recommend that if you think to buy then go for it..

Buying experience.Waited only for 22 days and it was a dream come true experience.Riding experience.Riding it for past 3 years, i believe mileage differences according to riding style. Completed 40000 kilometers and counting.Highways i get 21 kmpl and in high range roads, ups and downs, zig zags, hairpins it's 26. I use to have heavy vibrations in the beginning so i started using motul 5100-4t engine oil, after that i never had vibrations issues even at high speeds. Using motul for past 2 and half years.Added weights in the handle bar which helped in reducing vibrations.Details about looks, and performance. Where ever you go people will definitely respect you and will be jealous for your classic motorcycle and for it's retro look and sound from the exhaust like heart beat.Performance wise it's a great motorcycle maximum speed i was able to achieve is 145kmph also i used to ride it for 10 to 12 hours without any engine lags or complaints it goes like a bullet fired from a gun. There won't be any back pain, tired or stress even after long rides.Servicing and maintenance Better to do servicing in any local mechanic shops or by self as showroom service is not that great because they are busy with lot of motorcycles and very short time for each vehicle. Pros Stable motorcycle at high speeds.Braking is great at high speeds.Engine response is awesome. Cons Company need to upgrade engine oil quality or switch to motul like brand, it's worth.Abs-ebd is missing.Head light bulbs need to be upgraded to h4 led's with 6000kelvin or 8000kelvin. Switch quality, key quality, rubber pipes quality need to be upgraded.Swing arm old metal model is good which i use, the plastic-rubber mix swing arm in new model is not good, loss of balance while braking and in curves. tyres will be better if it is 140-80/18 or 150-80/18 in rear which is 60:40 like continental tkc. Rear suspension needs to be upgraded.

Use Motul 5100-4T Engine oil for classic 500 it is good. Change oil after 5000 or 6000 kilometers. Keep it dry after every wash or rain. Wash only once in 6 months. Clean with a dry cloth or napkins every day or once in a week, use diesel to clean, it's easy to remove dirt. Always use boots while riding, easy to handle bike, engine heat won't be a problem.

  • Honest review classic 500

    Karan Chopra

Buying re classic 500 was a hassle free experience for me as ,the tan colour i have was readily available in the showroom

But on the contrary classics have waiting for 2 months and standard upto 6 months .

That depends on dealership you are approaching, how quick they are in getting the bike available for you.

Smooth riding experience, good power after i changed the exhaust(shark exhaust, after market),less vibrations on higher speeds.

Paint quality is not good, had problems with tanks paint fading within 2 weeks .

In case dealership don't entertain your complaint please write to head office people, they are helpful and quick to revert.

Maintenance is on a higher side ,but once you maintain it ,you will enjoy.

No such major issue till now.

    Average about 25-30km/l.

And that hathi mat pallo thing, ain't right

Both bikes have a diff platform so cant compare.

    Cons

When i fill the petrol tank to full and rest the bike on single stand ,petrol starts coming out on tank

Service centre said its a known issue cant help.

Make sure once you go the service centre please read the chart there ,when you oil needs to be replaced as they might replace it in every service.

    Tips for other riders

Use Motul 5100-4T Engine oil for classic 500 it is good. Change oil after 5000 or 6000 kilometers. Keep it dry after every wash or rain. Wash only once in 6 months. Clean with a dry cloth or napkins every day or once in a week, use diesel to clean, it's easy to remove dirt. Always use boots while riding, easy to handle bike, engine heat won't be a problem.
