Ducati Diavel 1260 to be launched in India on 9 August

- Ducati Diavel 1260 launch on 9 August

- Receives design and mechanical updates

- Powered by a larger 1262cc L-twin motor

- Will be offered in two variants, Standard and the top-spec S model

After unveiling the second-generation Diavel at the 2018 EICMA show in Milan, Ducati India is all set to bring the updated power cruiser to Indian soil on 9 August. Now called the Diavel 1260, the motorcycle receives a larger motor and a revision in terms of design.

The Diavel 1260 adopts an edgier form with sharp lines that accentuate the aggressiveness of the power cruiser. But, it still abides by the distinctive design of the Diavel moniker, thus keeping to its original character.  For the second-generation, Ducati has updated the L-twin motor which now displaces 1260cc and is capable of churning out 157bhp of max power and 129Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties continue to be handled by a six-speed gearbox.

Besides the revised graphic and larger motor, the Italian bike maker has also updated the bike’s electronic package which now features a 6-axis IMU, riding modes, cornering ABS, eight levels of Ducati Traction Control (DTC), eight levels of Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and also a cruise control system. The previous instrument console has been replaced with a 3.5-inch TFT colour unit.

Suspension duties for the Diavel 1260 are handled by adjustable 50mm inverted forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. For braking, the power cruiser employs twin discs at the front with radially mounted Brembo M4.32 calipers and a single disc with floating Brembo caliper at the back. The higher-spec Diavel 1260 S gets more premium 48mm Ohlins fully adjustable inverted forks setup which is accompanied by Brembo M50 calipers, for the front brakes.

Expect the new Diavel 1260 to be priced at least a lakh above the existing model which retails at Rs 16.15 lakhs while the 1260 S is likely to carry a premium of Rs 1.5 lakhs, respectively. Although, the motorcycle doesn’t have any direct competitor, for its expected price tag though, it will compete against the likes of the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob, BMW R nineT Racer and Kawasaki Z1000.
