CF Moto 650GT vs Kawasaki Ninja 650: Spec Comparison

CF Moto will launch the 650GT in India, alongside three other motorcycles, on 19 July. The 650GT is a sports tourer which features a fully-faired design yet boasts of comfortable ergonomics suitable for long distance riding. In India, the motorcycle will compete against the Kawasaki Ninja 650 which is also a middle-weight sports tourer and runs a similar displacement motor. Now, let’s find out which one is better in terms of specification.

Features:

The CF Moto 650GT has an upper hand when it comes to features. The split headlamp setup integrates LED lights along with L-shaped LED DRLs while the tail lamp is also an LED unit. The windscreen, which is taller than that on the Ninja 650, can be adjusted manually up to 60mm. On top of that, the instrument cluster is a five-inch TFT display which offers two different layouts named as Touring and Sport. While the Ninja 650 gets a Z-shaped LED tail lamp, the split headlamp does away with halogen bulbs. Subsequently, the instrument cluster is also semi-digital unit. As for the windscreen, the motorcycle also gets an adjustable unit with a range of up to 60mm, similar to the 650GT.

Engine:

The 650GT is powered by a 649.3cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor which does duty on the 650MT touring model as well. This engine belts out 60bhp of power and 49Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the Kawasaki Ninja 650 runs a motor similar to the 650GT but churns out more power at 67.4bhp and 64Nm. Transmission duties are taken care of by six-speed gearbox on both bikes.

Cycle Parts:

Both motorcycles ride on 17-inch wheels which are suspended by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. In terms of braking, the Ninja 650 comes equipped with dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear, both accompanied by Nissin calipers. On the other hand, the 650GT also features dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear while the calipers are sourced from J Juan. Coming to the fuel tank capacity, while the Ninja 650 gets a 15 litre tank, the 650GT boasts of a larger 19 litre unit.

Dimensions:

Starting with the seat height and wheelbase of both bikes, these figures remain closely similar. While the Ninja 650 gets a seat height of 790mm and the wheels sit 1410mm apart, both the parameters exceed these figures by only 5mm in case of the 650GT. However, the ground clearance of the latter, at 150mm, is 20mm higher than the Ninja 650. Talking about the overall width, the 650GT is 930mm wide while the Ninja is much more compact at 739mm.

Pricing:

Kawasaki has priced the Ninja 650 at Rs 5.49 lakhs. Considering CF Moto’s intention to price the motorcycles competitively, we expect the 650GT to carry a price tag of around Rs 4.7 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs. (All prices are ex-showroom)
