The last week was all about the arrival of new products as bikemakers such as Suzuki and TVS dropped their exciting new entrants. While the entry-level commuter segment saw a fresh offering from Bajaj, the premium ADV category witnessed Ducati introducing its big daddy on and off-roader. With no further ado, let’s check out the top five most important two-wheeler stories from last week.
New Suzuki Gixxer 155 launched
Suzuki launched the new edition of the Gixxer 155 in India with a price tag of Rs 100,212. This is a hike of around of Rs 12,000 over its outgoing model. The motorcycle has received an all-new design, similar to the new Gixxer SF 155, along with more features. However, the 2019 Gixxer remains unchanged mechanically. Powering the naked bike is a 155cc, air-cooled, SOHC motor which is now fuel-injected and churns out 13.9bhp and 14Nm.
Ethanol-powered TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 launched
TVS has launched India’s first ethanol-powered motorcycle, the Apache RTR 200 Fi E100. The Hosur-based bikemaker has priced the motorcycle at Rs 1.2 lakhs which makes it Rs 9000 dearer than its petrol-powered counterpart. The motorcycle runs purely on ethanol while one can also use a mixture of 80 per cent ethanol and 20 per cent petrol. The usage of ethanol helps in curbing carbon monoxide emission and it will also aid in reducing the crude oil import from other countries. Initially, the motorcycle will be available in three states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. Notably, ethanol is not yet available commercially in India.
Bajaj has updated its commuter portfolio in India by launching the CT110. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 37,997 for the kick-start variant and Rs 44,352 for the electric start model. Powering the CT110 is a 115cc, air-cooled, DTSi motor which does duty on the Platina 110 as well. It churns out 8.6bhp of power and 9.81Nm of torque. Besides the larger displacement engine, what distinguishes the bike from its 100cc sibling is a new set of decals, seat with thicker foaming, blacked-out engine and cycle parts, tank grips and gaiters for the front forks.
Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro launched
Ducati has introduced the Multistrada 1260 Enduro in India which will replace the 1200 Enduro in the country. The Italian bikemaker has priced it at Rs 19.99 lakhs (red colour model) making the bike Rs 2 lakhs more expensive than its predecessor. The motorcycle is also available in Sand paint scheme which demands Rs 24,000 premium over the red colour variant. In order to make it a capable ADV, Ducati has equipped the 1260 Enduro with top-notch, adventure-friendly components and a plethora of electronics. Powering the motorcycle is a 1262cc, Testastretta, DVT mill which produces 153bhp and 129Nm and, comes mated to a six-speed gearbox accompanied by a quick-shifter.
Suzuki Burgman Street and Access 125 new colours spotted
Suzuki’s 125cc scooters, the Burgman Street and Access 125, were spotted adorning new paint schemes. While the former was sighted in matte black colour, the latter was captured sporting matte maroon paint job. Both these colours are likely to be special edition models and are expected to be launched soon. Besides the new colours, both scooters remain unchanged. The Suzuki Access 125 and Burgman Street share the same powerplant which is a 124cc unit capable of producing 8.6bhp and 10.2Nm.
