Ducati Hypermotard 950: What else can you buy?

Ducati has launched the Hypermotard 950 in India, which is a replacement for the Hypertmotard 939. The Italian bikemaker has priced the supermoto at Rs 11.99 lakhs, making it dearer by Rs 82,000 over its predecessor. This premium has brought along revamped styling, more features and tweaked mechanicals. While the Hypermotard, being a supermoto, remains to be a distinctive and attractive proposition, we bring to you the alternatives you can consider around the same price of the motorcycle.

Starting with adventure tourers, the buyer can choose one from the BMW F750 GS and the Triumph Tiger 800 XR which are priced at Rs 11.95 lakhs and Rs 11.99 lakhs, respectively. Both the motorcycles are capable adventure tourers which pack ample of performance and modern features. The BMW F750 GS is powered by an 853cc, water-cooled, parallel-twin motor which produces 75bhp and 83Nm. Meanwhile, the Triumph Tiger 800 XR gets an 800cc, in-line triple motor which churns out more power at 94bhp while the torque figure is lesser at 79Nm. Both bikes come mated to a six-speed gearbox.

For the touring enthusiasts who prefer to munch miles in a sporty way, the Ducati SuperSport makes for an enticing proposition. While its Panigale-inspired fully-faired design is profoundly sporty, the fairly comfortable ergonomics makes it suitable for long hauls as well. Propelling the SuperSport is a 937cc, twin-cylinder mill which makes 110bhp and 97Nm. You can get your hands on this Ducati for Rs 12.08 lakhs.

Besides all the aforementioned options, some of you might desire to own a power-packed litre-class motorcycle, and one with a lucrative price tag. In that case, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 surely fits your bill. The Japanese streetfighter belts out a healthy 145bhp and 106Nm from its 999cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four motor. This impressive performance, premium components and the muscular appeal, can be bought at Rs 12.34 lakhs.

Lastly, for the modern-classic aficionados, Triumph has the Thruxton R café racer in its portfolio. With the round headlamp, twin-pod instrument cluster, spoke wheels and chrome-finished components, the Thruxton R is purely retro. As for the engine, the 1200cc, parallel-twin motor of the bike churns out 96bhp and 112Nm while it is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Triumph retails the Thruxton R at Rs 12.15 lakhs.
