Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC launched in India at Rs 10.73 lakhs

- Gets modern retro styling with proper scrambler capabilities

- Powered by Triumph’s 1200cc High Power motor derived from the Thruxton R

- Competes against the Ducati Desert Sled and Scrambler 1100

Triumph India has announced the prices of its most-capable scrambler offering for India, the Scrambler 1200. Launched only in the XC variant, the motorcycle carries a sticker price of Rs 10.73 lakhs ex-showroom, pan India.

Although, design-wise, it follows the modern classic portfolio of motorcycles in the Bonneville range, the Scrambler 1200 is a full-fledged scrambler that can take on proper off-roading. The motorcycle comes equipped with several modern features like a full-LED round headlamp, LED lighting for the tail lamp and side indicators, a full colour-TFT instrument console equipped with Bluetooth for call alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. The motorcycle also has GoPro integration which can be controlled by a toggle switch on the handlebar allowing the rider to capture photos and videos while on the move.

Other tech features include traction control, ABS, cruise control and ride-by-wire. It also gets five riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road and Rider. Powering the Scrambler 1200 is the same 1200cc High Power parallel-twin mill that has been lifted from the Thruxton R. The motor gets a different tune to match its scrambler credentials. It is tuned to produce 88bhp of max power and 110Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a slick 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.

For cycle parts, the Scrambler 1200 is suspended by Showa inverted forks up front and Ohlins twin shock absorbers at the rear – both fully adjustable. For braking, the motorcycle is equipped with 320mm twin discs with Brembo calipers up front and a 235mm single disc with Nissin caliper at the back.

In terms of competition, considering the price, the Scrambler 1200 competes against the Ducati Scrambler 1100. However, considering its off-road capabilities it also locks horns with the Ducati Desert Sled.
