Royal Enfield has finally launched two of its highly awaited motorcycles; Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, in India at the starting price of Rs 2.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The deliveries of the motorcycles will start by the end of November. They are available in three variants with varying prices that are as follows:

Standard – Rs 2.50 lakhs

Custom – Rs 2.57 lakhs

Chrome – Rs 2.70 lakhs

Continental GT 650

(all prices are ex-showroom, India)

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 were unveiled at the 2017 EICMA and are one of the highly anticipated motorcycles of 2018. While the Interceptor 650 is a retro-classic street bike, the Continental GT 650 is a café racer which replaces the 535cc version which has been discontinued in India.

Both bikes are powered by a newly developed 648cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled motor that generates 47bhp of power at 7100rpm and 52Nm of torque at 4000rpm. The engine has 270-degree firing order which is known to produce minimal vibrations. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Coming to the cycle parts, braking duties on both the bikes are handled by single disc on the front and rear while ABS comes as standard. They are suspended on telescopic forks on the front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. The Interceptor 650 gets a fuel tank capacity of 13.7 litres and the Continental GT 650 gets a fuel tank of 12.5 litres.

Looking at their purpose and styling, both the flagship Royal Enfield bikes face no competition in India. However, KTM Duke 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 are the closest rivals in terms of pricing. We have ridden both the bikes in India and you can head here for the review of the Interceptor 650 and here for the Continental GT 650.
