  • Ownership review after 5000 kms plus a road trip from mumbai to lonavala

    Mukul Deshmukh

    Pros:

    1) 12-inch tubeless tyres (both front and rear)

    2) 6-liter fuel tank

    3) best features:

    seat adjustment

    find me lamps

    remote flip key

    guide lamps

    telescopic front suspension

quick storage compartment near the speed console

    front kick

aluminium engine casing (cools down very fast compared to others)

    4) top speed is 80kmph (but i managed to hit 85-90kmph, probably i was on a slope :p)

    5) the scooter is a bit heavy so does not vibrate at such high speeds and even when the other vehicles overtake is stays steady.

    Cons:

    1) weight of the scooter is 120kg (might be difficult for some people to handle)

    2) the body is made of fibre and not a metal body

    3) mahindra is a new brand in the 2-wheeler market, so there might be some trust issues but, i did not find any such.

I had taken the scooter from mumbai to lonavala and did not find any place to complain. Distance is around 136km. And i returned on the same day.

  • Don't buy this hopeless bike

    Seadip Saha

Dealers only knows to sell the bike but they wont take any responsibility to solve any problem. Poor after sale service. Spare parts is too costly and not available locally. Don't get fooled and attracted by its features. This scooter is hopeless and not at all reliable. Unfortunately there is no pros for this scooter.

One if best sccoty, but there is no mahindra service center. Rama road center they are only money maker, they are not interested to find the problem. I'm using gusto since 2017 but since mid 2019 i'm facing problem in self starting and kick starting, rama road center advised me to change the battery i did but after some time same i was facing same issue and i am still facing starting problem. Mileage is too too low. if you have any better options for service is guide me but i will not going to rama road center.

It was very unfortunate to find the lack of gusto while you ride it

    1. Absence of good mechanics in non-metro city

    2. Bad pick-up due to heaviness

    3. Trouble in engine sooner or later

    4. Battery drain and the vrla tag is just for name sake

    5. In winter if you are not running the machine it will not start

Its a money worth ride!Talking about mahindra gusto,i have purchased it in 2016 and it is really a good and comfy scooter. Mahindra had put a sincere effort on satisfying the needs of the people of very tall as well as the short heights by accompanying the seat adjusting mechanism. As well as company has designed it bold and which separates it from other scooters in the market. It's having the eye-catching design as well as that storage which opens from front to back making more space for storage. after using the scooter for 2 years i would like to put out some points .Pros:-1.Nice and good looks 2.Higher wheel base (14 inch)3.Fuel efficient 4.Spacious pillion 5.Top speed of 82km/h.6.It averages around 45-48 kmpl. Cons:-1.Pickup of the scooter is not like that we have in activa 2.Creates some noticeable shuttering noises at higher speeds (50-80)3.Very heavy than other scooters in the market.

Mahindra gusto is a nice scooter for daily commute.Good average.Average style. The performance is good with great pickup.Other options are also available in this price point like tvs jupiter , honda activa , hero maestro edge. After sale services are poor and the major problem i am facing is that spare parts are bit on expensive side and not easily available in shops.

It was good i bought it about 56k at jun 2016 for my dad some time i also used this for daily up-down to work place about 26 km per day. Look-wise its not bad good look silent and moderate in power. After some time later it starts creates little problem like cold starting, battery down etc. Servicing facility is good near to city not take more time for servicing no major maintenance need after 10000km some time problem in starting and accessories like light, horn problem over all is good.

One major problem comes just now its front suspension dislocate and open during riding without any sound or indication its really a major issue.
