About Z900 [2019]

Kawasaki’s Z800 was the most affordable CBU available from Team Green in India, and also the most affordable four-cylinder model in the lineup. If you preferred a little more oomph and a lot more style, there was the Z1000 as well. The Z900 will replace both models in most markets with a combination of light weight, and in the case of the Z800, more power. The Z900 clocks in at 12bhp more than the Z800 and weighs a massive 23kg less, thanks to a new trellis frame. Its performance is further enhanced by a short ratio gearbox. The clutch is now a slipper clutch with assist technology, which means the lever is light and progressive. There isn’t any ride-by-wire throttle or any other modern electronics to speak of, with the exception of ABS. The suspension is adjustable for everything except compression. For 2019, the Z900 has got three new graphic schemes – grey/red, black/white, and all black. The tail section leaves a little bit of the subframe exposed, and the subframe is coloured the same as the graphics and the wheel rims, which makes for a very alluring new look that is nevertheless familiar to us, thanks to an Austrian motorcycle manufacturer.

The lack of standard electronics has allowed the Z900 to be value for money in international markets, and that has carried over to the Indian marketplace. Its pricing makes it the value choice. Competition includes products like the Suzuki GSX-S750, Ducati Monsters 797 and 821, Yamaha MT-09, and the Triumph Street Triple 765.
