      A friend for 15 years!

      Subhankar Basak

My cbz star has been the part of my life since 1st November 2004. I remember getting it as a prize from my dad for scoring 80% in my 12th and cracking my joint entrance examinations for engineering. The first time i saw it wanted to own it. It has a life of its own. It has been my partner in crime for almost 15 years now. It saw many rough roads and stood a witness to my transition from boy to a married man. I being a hill boy ride it on a regular basis but with gods grace and the build-up quality of hero honda, it has never ever stranded me on road. The mileage is still at 40-45km/ltr. If you ignore the lack of electric start and a relatively low powered headlamp its hard to find any defect in my baby. The sporty look has a charm to it and the maintenance cost is next to nil. I just change the engine oil every 1500 to 2000 km and make regular maintenance servicing( cleaning) every 3-4 months that's it. Nowadays when there are many technically advanced bikes in the segment i wonder can anything be like the old friend i have?

      Original Japanese engine

      Varun

This is a rare bike. There are only few cbz bikes that have the original engine from japan, and this model is one of them. It has been used occasionally and serviced regularly. You should ride it and experience it. The battery needs a replacement. All original parts are maintained and there are no visible damages. A well maintained bike that can last many more years for you !!

      Rohit Kumar

I purchased this cbz xtreme 2012 model double disc bike from new delhi in last year august month. At that time bike driven around 25500 kms. As of today total driven 38300 kms. Bike in good condition. Well maintained. New amaron battery i have purchased and installed. Comprehensive insurance certificate from oriental insurance company. Every 2000 kms i have serviced this bike. Riding smoothly.

      Tips for other riders

Change engine oil after 2500-3000 kms. Clean filter. Nothing more to do. Normal service only needed.

      Cbz...Motorcycling .. Unplugged

      Sudhier

      Hero honda cbz 2009

I still remember the day when i wanted to buy a bike and had my eyes stuck on cbz ! i was using hero puch, if you remember in my school days and i used to see mostly, hero honda splendor, then passion and bajaj used to have there boxer, kawasaki kt and all and suzuki used to shine with samurai and shogun !

      That was some era !!!

Anyways cbz came into market and was the single most premium bike and it meant style !!

I still remember the punch line of the bike and the ad they used to play

      It said :

Hero honda cbz......... Motor cycling ...Unplugged !!!

First bike in India with disc brakes !!

I ordered it in showroom and had to wait for a month for the colour i had ordered. Every day was like an year !! i got it and i went into coma !!

No seriously i couldn't handle the pleasure the joy the thrill and comatose again !!

      Riding experience:

Its sheer pleasure, i remember the comments and compliments :

The beating of the silencer is amazingly different than rest of all the bikes

The uber cool sporty look was a complete sports !!

The drive and the pick up was brutal and superb !!

I had an amazing experience driving it thorough the years and well, i still have it !! and drive it every single day to my office !!!

Never ever gave any trouble !! smooth and fast and so much relent !!

The bike responds amazingly at traffic or sudden braking situations pot holes jumps !!

      Looks :

I can bet and say this line:

The way cbz has been designed is the most proportionate bike i have seen till now in India !!! hands down !!

      I will explain:

Now, we have a surge of bikes from all around the world and we have been spoiled for choices but still when you look at cbz its such a classy streamlined and well made design that still in the line of currently available ns or rs or street sport bikes cbz still holds your attention

Its one of the most neatly designed and astonishingly well sculptured bike ever !!

From the tip of the head light visor till the tail lamp !!

Not a single part metal or plastic seems out of proportion. Every single item amalgamates and compliments the entire look of the bike

There have been so many other bikes that came but something or the other was missing or overly done or under done but nothing with cbz !!

Even the next version cbz extreme could not match up as it had more plastics and over all the design wasn't justified !!

You name any bike till the recent times, every one had so many defects in terms of style and looks like:

Some had very thin rear tires, some had huge headlamp visor as compared to the tank, some had very short or big tank covers or plastic caps surrounding the tank, seats were thin or thick or out of shape, petrol tank was either too huge and bulging or too lean, tail lamp was all the shapes you can think of, round, triangle, quadrangle, x shaped, u shaped and what not,

Cbz was one of a kind and still today i have not seen any other bike that matches up to its built in terms of the money it was worth for

I am not saying this as i own this bike but i am owner of 2 bike servicing garages and i know as i see more bikes closely than a normal person

      Servicing and maintenance

It hits the sweet spot as with any other honda bike. Its effortless and doesn't drill a hole in your wallet. You need to ensure that you fill the engine oil on timely basis and rest is taken care of !!

I don't remember how many times i have opened the carburetor or done major part replacements or for that matter for any general purpose !!

Its never been done and its almost 9 years i have been using the bike !!

The only thing done in my bike is the plastics that have been changed after i met with accidents due to some issues.

Clutch plates only 2 times till now, disk pads i got changed 1 month ago !!! yes, after 9 years i changed the disc pads now

I even have the original clutch and brake levers !! the best part was that, in all the accidents, the levers were bent, never broken and my boys got them back to its shape !! that's something i don't have an answer for !!

I have changed the tires 2 times !!

I am a careless and hard driver but even with so neglected care the bike is sparkling new to look and to drive !!!

People drive it once in a while and are amazed how she still picks up !!

Never ever spent money on anything that wasn't needed and it always served me brilliantly

Double hands down, the best in terms of servicing and maintenance, nothing beats it!!

      Pros:

      Uber style

      Great pickup

Perfect match of style and ergonomics

Beatifically stylised and performs even better

I still get mileage of around 45-50 that's constant since day 1 !!

Superb drive control and handling even at highest speed

Great maneuver control on turns and bumpy roads

Sturdy as it was on day 1

      Cons:

Genuine parts not available as its discontinued

The silencer makes a tin-tin sound once the bike is stopped after a drive, part of cooking process but still does it !!

      No pass light switch
