KTM India has launched its smallest sportbike, the RC 160, in India. With a price tag of Rs. 1.85 Lakh, ex-showroom, it is Rs. 6,000 more expensive than the top-end TFT variant of the 160 Duke.

KTM RC 160 Summary
KTM RC 160 is a sports bike available in only 1 variant and 1 colour. The KTM RC 160 is powered by 164.2cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 18.73 bhp and a torque of 15.5 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, KTM RC 160 comes up with anti-locking braking system. This RC 160 bike weighs 155 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 13.7 liters.
The RC 160 Duke is one of KTM’s upcoming motorcycles, which will replace the RC 125 as the Austrian brand’s entry-level sportbike. As of now, the confirmed specifications of the bike are not available. It will mainly compete against Yamaha’s extremely popular R15.
The engine of the RC 160 will certainly be a close-to-160cc unit, power and torque output of which will be higher than the RC 125. The latter produces 14.3bhp and 12Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. The hardware should be similar to its 200cc sibling with 17-inch alloy wheels, WP suspension, and ByBre braking hardware. Whether it will get dual-channel ABS remains to be seen. KTM might opt for a single-channel unit to save production costs.
Before discontinuation, the KTM RC 125 was pegged at Rs. 2.15 lakh. The RC 160 should be priced the same to avoid cannibalisation of the portfolio, as anything higher will place it too close to the bigger RC 200.
