The Kawasaki Z900 is a naked street motorcycle and its ticket to fame is its inline-four engine. It has a 948cc, four-cylinder engine. This motor makes the same 123bhp as its predecessor but the low-end torque has been increased for better responsiveness. It also sounds incredibly good, which is one of the primary reasons why it is popular.
For 2025, besides the tweak to the engine, the design has also been revised. The Japanese Sugomi styling on the bike is more aggressive than before and befits the naked street application of the Z900.
Under the bodywork is a steel frame that is suspended by an adjustable USD fork and monoshock. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels, while braking is done by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
In the features department, the new Z900 now gets cruise control as standard, along with traction control and multiple riding modes. There’s also a new turn-by-turn navigation system that can be operated through the bike’s five-inch colour TFT instrument cluster.
Expect the new Kawasaki Z900 to cost a few thousand rupees more than the outgoing bike when it comes to India.

The Kawasaki Ninja Z900 is widely celebrated as a top-tier naked sportbike that masters both thrilling performance and everyday usability. At its core, the Z900 features a robust 948cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine, delivering around 125 horsepower and 98.6 Nm of torque, which translates to explosive acceleration and a broad, tractable powerband. The powerful engine makes it equally adept at city commuting, highway cruising, and spirited rides on twisty roads, with smooth, responsive throttle action and minimal vibration even at high speeds. The Z900’s aggressive styling stands out, boasting sharp lines, a minimalist body, and a distinctive exposed trellis frame. The muscular stance is complemented by all-LED lighting and a vibrant full-color TFT display, underscoring its modern appeal and enhancing visibility. Despite its spirited disposition, the ergonomics favor comfort—the upright handlebars, slightly rear-set foot pegs, and generously padded seat provide a relaxed riding posture, making extended journeys enjoyable. However, taller riders may find the seat-to-peg distance somewhat restrictive.Handling is another highlight, courtesy of its lightweight frame and well-calibrated suspension system, which is fully adjustable for rebound and preload. The Z900 remains composed over bumps and is nimble in traffic, while the potent braking setup—featuring dual 300mm front discs and four-piston calipers—ensures strong stopping power with added confidence from switchable ABS. The clever design, including heat management strategies, means the bike stays surprisingly cool even in heavy traffic.A comprehensive electronics suite includes multiple riding modes, traction control, and ride-by-wire throttle, allowing customization and enhanced safety for various conditions. Kawasaki’s reputation for reliability complements a relatively low-maintenance ownership experience, and when considering the balance of power, technology, comfort, and aggressive pricing, the Z900 offers remarkable value for money in its segment. Overall, the Ninja Z900 stands out as a versatile, exciting, and practical choice for riders craving both performance and daily usability.

The Kawasaki Z900 is a brilliant blend of raw performance and street-friendly usability, solidifying its place as a top contender in the naked sportbike segment. Its heart is the phenomenal 948cc inline-four engine, delivering a strong, linear powerband with an exhilarating top-end rush. The signature inline-four howl, especially past 6,000 rpm, adds significantly to the thrilling experience.Handling is surprisingly nimble for a middleweight-plus machine, thanks to the trellis frame and well-balanced chassis. It manages city commuting with commendable ease, boasting good low-end grunt and manageable heat, yet transforms into a sharp, corner-carving machine on open roads.Modern features like a TFT display, selectable ride modes, power modes, and traction control bring it in line with its rivals. While some may wish for a factory quickshifter or slightly better suspension on the base model, the Z900's aggressive "Sugomi" styling, comfortable-for-a-naked ergonomics, and impressive value make it an exceptionally compelling package. It's a powerful, reliable, and ridiculously fun all-rounder.

What’s Great About It (Real Ride Experience)Thrilling Power & AccelerationMany owners say the engine feels wild and alive. Whether from low revs or higher up, the power delivery gives a rush — almost addictive. One user said “this machine shoots like a wild boar.” It pulls beautifully, overtakes quickly, gives great satisfaction when opening up. Strong Road Presence & LooksPeople love how heads turn when they ride it. The aggressive design, sharp styling, the roar of the exhaust etc., all add to the “beast” feel. Good for Long Rides (Solo)For many, it’s comfortable on highways or long rides (say 80–100 km+). The ergonomic setup, despite being sporty, lets them cruise without too much fatigue if riding solo. Handling Is Confident in the DryOn good roads, the Z900 corners well, feels planted, leans confidently. Users like that it’s responsive and “fun” when pushed. What Frustrates / Things to Watch Out ForHeat, Especially in TrafficSeveral owners find that in city traffic, the heat buildup is real (especially from the engine and exhaust). It becomes uncomfortable in hot weather or slow moving traffic. Fuel / Mileage Isn’t GreatGiven its size and performance, people don’t expect it to be a mileage champ — but many say the fuel consumption is high when riding in cities or stopping-starting. Pillion Comfort & PracticalityThe pillion seat is often described as cramped or less comfortable. Also, the passenger’s comfort during longer rides or over bumps is less good. RedditBrakes & Wet-Grip IssuesThe front brakes sometimes lack bite at low speeds, though progressively improving at higher speeds. Stock tyres are not always great in wet conditions — grip, especially at mild damp or slight rain, is a concern. Gearbox IssuesSome complaints about the shift feel — false neutrals, especially when up-shifting, or when you don’t shift with enough force. Fatigue Over Time / Long-Ride ComfortEven though solo rides are okay, beyond ~1-2 hours many riders feel soreness in lower back, knees. The sporty posture takes its toll. Overall Feel & VerdictOwning a Z900 feels like having a powerful, exciting, aggressive bike — it's not just transportation, it’s an experience. Riders generally feel it delivers what it promises: swagger, performance, excitement. But it’s not a commuter-friendly or stress-free bike all the time. City traffic, heat, congestion expose its trade-offs. It’s better suited when you can stretch its legs, ride on open roads, enjoy its engine and handling. If you ride mostly in cities and short distances, the Z900 gives you a lot of “wow factor” but also some daily annoyances. If weekend rides or highway cruising are your thing, those annoyances drop a lot.
