Lemme set the expectation of anyone reading this review straight. This bike is not for feature lovers. Hero glamour has cruise control. Xtreme has USD. You'll love those bikes for their features.
All this bike did for me is break myth that more features = better bike and I love her for this.
So rent and ride it long before deciding. And if you're someone who'd like to go on rides without any worries and with top notch fun, this bike might just hit your list.

Built quality and reliability is genuinely unmatched by rivals. No small niggles or anything that occurs to a lot of other really good bikes every once in a while. This is backed by owners AROUND THE GLOBE.
PS - 99% of india will be slower (including 4 wheelers) when you'll ride this, and it won't vibrate you out of your seat ever at anywhere between 0-160 kmph. But please reserve top speed for track days.

Versys X 300 in India feels like Kawasaki looked at the spec sheet, shrugged, and said. “Good enough, they will buy the badge.” No USD forks. No modern front end feel. Just a basic telescopic setup that screams commuter grade, not premium adventure tourer. In 2025, that is not “simple”. That is stingy.
And it gets worse. Tubed tyres. On a so called go anywhere bike. That is not adventure. That is puncture roulette. Add an outdated cluster that looks like it came free with a microwave, and you start wondering if Kawasaki is even trying, or just clearing old parts inventory with a green logo on the tank.
Meanwhile TVS is out here building products like it has something to prove. Better feature to rupee ratio. Better adaptation for Indian roads. Better aggression in engineering. Even when they miss, they at least swing. Kawasaki on the Versys X 300 does not swing. It sleepwalks.
The funniest part is the “reliability” shield. Reliability is not a superpower. It is the bare minimum. You do not get to sell a fossil and say. “But it will run forever.” Congrats. So will a refrigerator. Nobody is paying premium money to ride a refrigerator with handlebars.
If Kawasaki wants respect in India, stop treating buyers like they are desperate for a brand stamp. Give USD forks. Give tubeless spoked wheels. Give proper braking feel. Give a modern dash. Give real value. Until then, this bike is not “underrated”. It is underbuilt, overpriced, and honestly embarrassing next to what the so called budget brands are delivering on the ground.
