This bike has looks of a cruiser as well that of a speed racer, i have touched 120km/hr without any vibrations

engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox i live in bandra, mumbai and the traffic is terible the bike heats up very fast, i am unable to shift gear more than the 2nd gear, this bike is not for daily commute, i work abroad so that suits me fine, to really enjoy riding the bike i go on the highways that too late at night thats when i can actually feel the joy in owning this awesome bike.

This bike inintially gave me a lot of problems, i paid the full amount in the morning and got the delivery the same evening which i was impresed but that evening when i was just leaving the work shop the bike fuse was blown out, which was a bummer, the same month the petrol indicator showed a wrong reading resulting getting stranded on the highway, another bummer, the next month some cables got short circuted, this same month after reaching 1000kms the reading started back to 0kms, not very happy now, i did get the service done, but for a owner being in india for just over 2 months where you would love to ride the bike without any hassles and unnecessary inconvenience not very happy.

After paying 6 lakhs 23,000 as full down payment i was not happy at all.

I did nt get any compensation, not a big deal but i had to pay for the petrol everytime the mechanic came to pick up and drop the bike after fixing the problem which came to more than 1200 inr.

All said and done i am happy with the little time i actually got to ride the bike and looking forward to ride it once i am back from the us.

Areas of improvement - having a higher ground clearance would be nice as the bottom hits the speed breakers when i go over them, the horn which came with it is not aouder than that of a scooter, i had to buy a louder one.

    Pros

if you are looking for comfort, style, and attention while on the road this is the bike you want

    cons

low ground clearance, the bottom hits the speed breakers, the bike also tends to heat up

  • Sports bike in a cruisers disguise

    Prashant Mishra

I owned a cbr250 before i became a proud owner of hyosung aquila pro gv650.

It was quite an upgrade for me not just capacity wise but also monetarily. The landing cost of aquila pro gv650 was a tad over 5.8 lacs on road. This bike was not even in my consideration set as i was stuck up with ninja 650 but the twist in choice came when my wife denied sitting on a ninja as i am 5'5" and she feels that ninja would be too tall for me and she would not feel comfortable riding pillion.

The next stop in that category was a cruiser but i am sort of no-a-cruiser guy. The options were limited in my budget with only hd street 750 and aquila pro. I decided to take test ride of both. Aquila felt powerful, muscular and it accelerated like a sports bike. 0-60kmph in under 3 seconds, amazing for a cruiser. I thought of taking a test ride for hd street, went thrice to showroom but they had some or the other problems with the bike and test ride was unavailable. The decision was made.

Aquila pro gv650 landed on the eve of dhanteras in 2014. Run-in was very tough as this bike is best enjoyed with open throttle but i ensured that i don't give in the temptation. I did 3-4 breakfast rides of almost 200-300kms each and voila, i was due for 1st service. There is just 1 free service from hyosung at 600kms and rest are all paid. A paid service comes every 4000kms, which i think is very short, and costs almost about rs.7000 per service. That is high. Few of my friends say that is the service cost of a suzuki hayabusa.

Well i soon realised, it is a costly bike to maintain as brake-pads wore off within 3000kms, few tid bits were also changed but i was okay with that.

Then the horror started. There was a squeaking sound coming from my rear tyre, i went to service station they could not fix it for 3-4 visits, finally it was done when service engineer from company checked it. Battery went dead twice and bike was stalled, my battery was replaced twice in 6 months. With dead battery i was stranded thrice but thankfully all the times i was within city limits and thanks to dsk's road side assistance which came free for 2 years with the bike. In first two years of ownership following parts were replaced, battery (twice), o2 fuel sensor, belt, belt pulley rear & front, fuel tank were replaced once. Besides this i had to get the relay change a couple of times.

Now these problems occur with bikes, i accept but if the service centre guys are not equipped to handle it, then it becomes a problem. Just to give you two instances, svc guys used chain lube to eradicate squeaking sound from belt multiple times and after servicing once they forgot to tighten the head bold for tank. Dsk brought benelli to India and they completely forgot about this brand and that should be the biggest reason for someone not to buy a hyosung bike in India.

Now that you have made up you mind never to trust hyosung brand, wait till you hear me give it's riding experience.

What do we all look for in a bike? if you have to buy just one bike, what all you need n that? looks, power, feel, road presence, comfort, control? this bike checks all these boxes. Not a single time has it failed to garner attention, on all my rides it has returned a mileage of 24-25kmpl which is high, its ultra comfortable to ride, it rides smooth on highways. Manoeuvrability in cities, traffic is a bit problematic due to its huge wheelbase of more than 1 and a half meter. I have taken it to a speed of 200kmph and at that point it felt it can do additional 20-25kmph but i forfeited as on a cruiser that is not wise. Most of the times i ride it on 90-100kmph but even 60kmph is good to cruise in top gear. The suzuki sv650 engine that hyosung has used in this has been tuned for 5 gears. But believe me when i say that the headline on hyosung brochure - 'soul of cruiser, heart of a racer' is true in every sense for this bike. I have raced it against the similar capacity bikes and also litre class bikes and it doesn't let you down. Two years after i had owned this, i went to take a test drive for triumph daytona 675 and i did not like that bike. Yes daytona is a great bike, more powerful than aquila, sports bike, 3 cylinder and more reformed but is just missed the feel. Not long after i got a chance to ride 2008 model unrestricted ninja zx10r and that matched the feel i get on my bike.

For the price it carries, it is a fantastic bike but looking at maintenance cost it and quality of service centres, it is a cautious buy. As magical as it is to ride this bike, today i would not buy this bike. Though i have not got stuck on my rides, i always have this scare about getting stuck due to failed battery or a relay or an electronic sensor. Moreover, due to its huge wheelbase and low ground clearance, it is only suitable for good wide roads only.

Hyosung aquila pro gv650 is only failed to pick up in India because of policies of dsk hyosung. If the same product comes out with a suzuki or kawasaki tag, i would buy this bike without even thinking twice.

When i look back at my decision i sometimes feel i made a mistake but almost all the time i feel happy that i made this mistake.

All hyosung bikes are low grade, i suggest never to buy hyosung bikes or you will be regretting you decision all your life. The resale value also is very low for 6.5 lakhs bike resale is for 2 lacs. I had an aquila pro, i sold it for only 2 lakhs as it gave me so many problems. In bangalore the service center is also very bad they cheat a lot.

Buying it was good enough. Riding is awesome. Looks are heavy almost like other cruisers. Has good throttle. Bt engine heats up at low speeds. Have to maintain 50 to 60 within city limits to cool it. Its a cruiser that a man should have with him. Its a manly cruiser. Just go for a long ride and you can feel the essence of it.

This was my 3rd bike, and i love it more than the other two. The bike is more amazing in real life. Driving this bike makes you calm and relaxing. I would suggest that you should at least give it a test drive if not buying, that test drive will change your decision trust me. I happen to travel a lot due to my studies, i am studying mba in finance, so this bike comes to my rescue when i am late, haha. I loved it, and i would suggest that book a test drive. Even bikewale.Com is featuring it. Love it.

  • Aquila pro just stands for comfort and power

    Livin

When compare to other same range bikes the power and comfort is superb on aquila 650 pro. Shock absorbers are giving good cushion effect and feels luxury . Periodically maintains spares are cheap .

Gives good stability as it have an inverted shocks at front and wide tyre at rear.

    Loves the bike very much

Unless the some cheap electrical parts which gives problems but cheap to replace

  • Aquila pro actual review by owner

    Chaitanya

I own this beauty from January 18. I rode around 18k km which includes noida-leh-noida and noida-bangalore rides. These are the major ride which we did. For buying experience, it was fairly good. Riding comfort is very good as we ride mostly on highway, we didn't feel vibrations till 100km/hr after that you feel vibrations in foot peg and handle bar. For ground clearance you have to watch out as if you riding with pillion. Suspension is also okay it can be improved. But it is fine until we are not doing off-roading ride. Like we did in leh ride. Head light can be improve,as it has very low power bulb. For build quality, can improve as so many wires are visible from by outside and open for water. For the look, it better than harley davidson 750. And for mileage on highway it you doing 100kmph than easily 24-25kmpl. It you exceeding 120 know, it will be around 20-2kmpl. And in city stop-go traffic it will get heat and mileage will be 17-18kmpl. It got overheat in city very easily. Seat is very comfortable but still you to take a break after 100km as you will start feeling numb. And riding position is also good. And is you are short rider than it may create problems for you and front foot peg is bit far for short rider. For height 5.5, you leg almost straight. At near position of foot peg. For console it will give almost all information like trip, fuel, temp, speed and time. It they add gear indicator in that then it will be superb. While we ride we miss 6th gear in this bike. After 120kmph we feel that it need 6th gear also. For brakes those are not brembo break and break pad are very normal. But bridgestone battlax bt 54 are doing great job and they can do around 20k km after you need change that depends on riding style. But these tyre very helpful in dry or wet or mud situations they can stop the bike without skidding again this depend on you breaking style as this bike doesn't have abs and at present no showroom has gv650 with abs. For service, it will take you roller coaster ride if any thing need to change. For normal service it will cost around 5-8k and it clutch plates cost around 14-16k it can be burn it not set properly but service guys and you have suffer no choice in that case. Everytime you take to service first thing they will change is engine oil that will cost you around 3k. If you usually ride on highway and very less off road and love to cruise than it is the ride if budget is constraint. For pros and cons Pros 1) power 2) seat 3) pillion comfort Cons 1) build quality 2) missing 6th gear 3) service and service station.

  • Beauty to beast experience.....

    Raghu

Buying experience at bangalore was worst....I was given a used bike in place of a new one for my hard earned money....I was cheated and had a big fight with the showroom guys unfortunately it's shutdown now....Riding is ok but too much heat that burns my legs while driving....Looks is good which mainly attracted me and performance is ok...Service and maintenance is bad....Pros are its awesome looks....Cons are excess heat that tends to burn my legs while riding the bike and sensors are very sensitive that are put under the bike which are not appropriate for indian bumpy roads.Spares very difficult to get..Don't know if there are any showrooms still open in bangalore.

Love it.

    3. The only thing i will point out is its ground clearance . The ground clearance is no very high so its difficult to ride in those area where the road is in bad conditions or in off-roading rides

    Amit

All hyosung bikes are low grade, i suggest never to buy hyosung bikes or you will be regretting you decision all your life. The resale value also is very low for 6.5 lakhs bike resale is for 2 lacs. I had an aquila pro, i sold it for only 2 lakhs as it gave me so many problems. In bangalore the service center is also very bad they cheat a lot.

if you are looking for comfort, style, and attention while on the road this is the bike you want

    cons

low ground clearance, the bottom hits the speed breakers, the bike also tends to heat up

    1. Nice bike in a very good price

    2. My experience is good with this bike

    3. Easy to maintain

    4. Good for city areas

    3. The only thing i will point out is its ground clearance . The ground clearance is no very high so its difficult to ride in those area where the road is in bad conditions or in off-roading rides

  • Never buy hyosung

    Amit

Love it.
