  • My honda dio

I totally loved the style of honda dio. It has got very stylish looks.Good styling and looks was one of the major factors in my decision to buy this scooter. That, and the fact that it had a good storage box/ boot space (unlike the tvs scooty) where i could keep my helmet when i reached my destination, or my bags when i was driving.Performance - wise also honda dio is great. I have driven it across hilly terrain, and for upto 50 km rides, and always found the ride smooth and comfortable. There is one issue that i have faced while driving with a pillion rider. That is the rear footpegs are a little awkwardly placed. But, that is just a discomfort. Not a very big issue. And so, the advantages more than outweigh anything negative about this scooter, and i think it's worth the money.I am glad i made this choice, and i am sure you will not regret it too, if you buy a honda dio :)

  • Styling at its best

This scooter or rather say motoscooter is best in lokks in the scooties prevailing.Honda has worked a lot in its design. The perfornmance of engine is smooth and acceleration is fast. But the build quality is below average.Go for it if you want attention on road. This is class apart from other scooters in india. The engine is same as on activa so you are getting a durable engine and fuel economy. The design can be comapred to a sports bike and the unique styling is visible from the fact that it has headlight on front body rather than handlebar.

The updated instrument console of the dio is smart and in keeping with the bold revamped design of the bike’s body. However, digital dials are still absent, with both the speedometer and fuel gauge still analogue. Nevertheless, all of the dials and meters are clear and well-formed, with strongly visible indicators.

Honda claims improved mileage for dio 110, roughly 48 kilometres per litre; however, testing did not bear this estimate out. For riding in the city, the bike’s mileage is roughly between 45 and 60 kilometres per litre, which places it at the middle to high end of the market. Honda dio's fuel tank is capable of holding 6 litres. It is now powered by dream mileage engine.

  • A disappointing upgrade

    Kiriti Mortha

In my review i can't help but compare the dio to its previous model.

    Style

the new dio has sporty styling. The facelight on the head lights and the tail lamps reflect a version of teenage rebelion. They definitely catch your eye. The speedometer dials and instrument panels are pretty much the same as the old dio except for the new fuel gauge. The dials are legible enough but lack a certain zing you get on its rivals.

Engine performance, fuel economy and ride quality

as mentioned in the pros above, acceleration is the bike's selling point. It's extremely powerful and the light body helps you climb to a high speed in no time. However, the odd feeling handle bar (probably due to its short length) don't give you confidence at high speeds or for that matter even at low speeds. The suspension is hard and even a single rider will get tossed around on an average indian road. The brakes however, serve their purpose and were designed to stop this vehicle at its highest speed.

A major let down that has been carried forward from the previous model is the battery problem. Firstly, it feels as if the battery power prescribed for the dio is underpowered, i.E., You get the feeling you need a bigger battery. This is because your lights go dim unless you accelerate. Secondly, the bike often dies if you don't hold a certain throttle.

    Final words

the success of the previous model is owed to its acceleration, handling, road presence and fuel economy. Honda went wrong with the new dio in a few key areas. While they nailed the sporty looks and retained a few important features from the previous model, they went phenomenonally wrong in putting this one together. Riding this bike is extremely taxing for even a small distance.

  • Worst suspension. Wobbling and slow pickup.

    Bharathkumar

    Model : dio bs6 dx
    Year : 2020 august
    Place: Chennai
I am writing this review after completing the 30000 kms(30k kms) .
    Pros:
    1. Very smooth engine at any speeds
    2. High end performance is ultimate
    3. Riding posture is well designed
    4. Handling is best in the scooter segment
    5. Braking superb even though drum.
    Pros explanation:
Dio bs6 engine is very smooth when compared to any other scooters in India
But it never compromises on performance with loss of power, especially once its speed touched 45 km/h it performance is ultimate .
Butter smooth gear box, minimal vibration at low speed, breaking is superb only with rider. Headlight is amazing.
    Cons:
    1.Worst suspension setup in scooters
    2.Worst comfort
    3.Worst low end performance.
    4.Bad stability.
    5. Not suitable for highway rides and long rides.
    Cons explanation;
    1. Dio bs6 have new frame setup like ( tvs scooty es). This is the first time Honda introduced this frame setup for all his scooter models bs6 complaints. But main problem is there in the scooter.
After every vehicle completes 5000 to 10000 kms, dio vehicle faces suspension failure issue, Reported the issue at 6k kms but service guys did not address the solution for this issue, still now 4 times i changed rear shock absorber but still my issue is not solved by the service center, after that i tested more than a 50 no's of vehicles in Chennai city. People are facing this issue , but that they are not aware about this.
All the vehicles I tested comes with same suspension issue.
Due this shock absorber failure , scooter will lose stability and rear side wobbling issue arises and it is very difficult to drive on muddy roads and rainy season.
Dio bs6 and all bs6 scooters of Honda have the same suspension issue. I tried to escalate this issue to higher authority. Bit I cant reach them.
So kindly don't buy this vehicle if you want to save your (spinal cord) .
While driving this scooter. Its definitely damages your spinal cord bone and hip.
So kindly think before you purchase any scooter of bs6 model from Honda and please ask and test drive the other people those who purchased the scooter.

  • Aggressive dio

    Pooja Naik

Note : below is my 2 year review for my honda dio which i sold 2 months ago and got a very good resale price.1. Buying experience : to be honest, the honda dio was not my first choice to buy as scooty for me. Initially i was planning to buy a honda activa as it was recommended by everyone for its long life. But when i went to the dealer for purchasing it i found it heavy as i am a thin girl and i could not handle it well. So the dealer suggested me to the buy the honda dio which was much lighter than the activa. I took a test ride and loved the way dio performed which was more than i expected. Thanks to its fibre (plastic) body which made it lighter than the metallic activa. Hence, i decided to buy the dio over the activa. Riding experience : as i said above, i loved the performance of dio. The light weight of dio improves its acceleration which makes easier to overtake and filter in busy traffic. I found the suspension to be stiffer on the dio but it easily manages to take a bump out of a pot hole. Its ground clearance is good and gets over those awkwardly built speed breakers easily. I felt that the tank capacity could have increased a bit but if considered the mileage its okay as you don't have to refuel it again and again.Details about looks, performance : honda dio stands out of the crowd because of its sleek and aggressive design and huge front headlight. It has good graphics all over it which grabs more eyeballs of the new generation. Acceleration is great and engine is butter smooth but it lacks power at its peak. It badly manages to touch the 100kmph mark and 90kmph is the highest i have touched on my dio. Also one thing i don't like about the dio is that the headlight power is not so great or excellent. Honda must have improved this in the upcoming dio which i never got a chance of driving.Servicing and maintenance : servicing cost is very affordable. Dio never dig a hole in my pocket for sure. As much as i know servicing includes oil change, maintaining correct tyre pressure, changing the rubber belt etc. Its whole servicing costs me about less than one thousand. Maintaining is also very easy as you just have to take care of few things. Don't rash drive. If you do it will directly affect the mileage. Don't brake hard which will result in skidding and your tyres will also lose grip early. Also don't use accelerator and brakes together for long life of rubber belt. Once i had a accident which resulted in breakage of the front body but when inquired in service centre the body frame was also very cheap which makes dio very reliable.Pros : good performance, acceleration, light weight, comfortable seat, good mileage.Cons : headlight, stiff suspension, under seat fuel cap.

  • Its just 10 year younger to me. Love it.

I own a honda dio 2004 model. Yes, it is 2004 model after using it for almost 17 year i'm writing this review. My dad brought it for daily commute and i learnt driving in that. I still feel like it is new scooty that comfortable it is for daily commute to office. The suspensions are very good and i doesn't feel tired even after driving for 50km per day. Extremely happy with the quality and road grip it offers during drive. It is giving me 42 to 45 km/liter mileage still today. It doesn't race up like now a day scooty's but it is good enough for my kind of driving. I maintain the speed below 60 and maintain 40 to 60 range to be precise. I regularly service it for every 2500 to 3000 kms and maintained well. I decided it not to sell and use it until it can run. Annual maintenance will cost around 6k to 8k even after 16 years of use. It is very satisfying buy from my dad and very happy to won this machine.

    Cons explanation;

    Bharathkumar

    Model : dio bs6 dx
    Year : 2020 august
    Place: Chennai
I am writing this review after completing the 30000 kms(30k kms) .
    Pros:
    1. Very smooth engine at any speeds
    2. High end performance is ultimate
    3. Riding posture is well designed
    4. Handling is best in the scooter segment
    5. Braking superb even though drum.
    Pros explanation:
Dio bs6 engine is very smooth when compared to any other scooters in India
But it never compromises on performance with loss of power, especially once its speed touched 45 km/h it performance is ultimate .
Butter smooth gear box, minimal vibration at low speed, breaking is superb only with rider. Headlight is amazing.
    Cons:
    1.Worst suspension setup in scooters
    2.Worst comfort
    3.Worst low end performance.
    4.Bad stability.
    5. Not suitable for highway rides and long rides.
    Cons explanation;

    Tips for other riders

Engine oil changing is very important so don't skip it. Please don't pull accelerator and apply brakes at the same time. Check the condition of rubber belt at the time of servicing. Wash and polish it regularly for good looks.

  • Its just 10 year younger to me. Love it.

    Sharana Kumar Palla
