I bought Honda Shine Sp from Selvam Honda, Vellore in 2016 near Diwali time.
I don't know some people have commented their experience on this bike similar to that of a car. What I felt is like riding on bullock cart. Suspension is worst. Wherever and whenever I see a medium hollow in the road or street I need to apply brake for juggle free experience. All these happens only when you ride alone. If pillion rider is with you the suspension is working as it should be and all fine.
Cold start problem is there - how much ever you apply the kicker or choke and go to second gear , the bike gets started and when suddenly you see a turning and you are applying clutch means the bike engine turns off. This happens irrespective of good quality petrol, Good Heat, Good oil.
The seat of rider is not comfortable at all. Felt like as if seated on a horse in merry go round.
But the seat of Pillion rider is pretty good.
The Headlamp of this light is good and ok. I like the passing light technology.
When you shift the gears correctly according to the respective speed matching rhythm then the gear changes smoothly. I felt a great difference while riding alone and with a pillion.
Remember whenever you are on halt please use 1st gear for a movement and change the gear to 2nd as fast as you can .
2nd - fine upto 18km/he
3rd - fine upto 25 km /HR
4th - fine upto 35 km /HR
5th - the rest of speed.
Please maintain from 40 to 60 for lesser vibration, good control and Economic ride.
Greater than 60 is the worst ever shivering especially felt under the pant.
Don't simply judge the small holes or small speed breakers and ride around 30 in this bike because it will make you get hurt on those soft parts where it should not be hurt . I hope you understood. This hurt is also been experienced by pillion rider.
Make sure you apply only half clutch for turning or keeping the bike engine on during traffic while on gears.. Half clutch in the sense it shouldn't be engaging the clutch to gear box but at the same time the bike engine should be on. If you apply full clutch while turning or reversing back with your legs or trying to keep the engine on halt them surely the bike engine will turn off irrespective of engine heat . I haven't seen any other bike of this condition.
Make sure you ride the bike on Main and not on reserve. I tried on reserve and full fuel got empty which led me for for a bike walk to petroleum for almost 4 kms.
The handle bar of this bike is different and need to struggle for taking a free turn unlike other bike or the CB Shine. Infact I struggled to turn during my RTO license test for driving 8.
Please make sure to service this bike every 1500 km or maximum by 2000.
Tips for Honda CB Shine SP
Always start bike engine in neutral and got to 1st gear and then 2nd. Other wise you will face the bike engine troubleshooting within 2 years.
I have ridden 59000 km. So please make use of expertise advice.
When going for large rides please maintain at 60 for good mileage and smooth rides.
Please don't load weight exceeding 170kg otherwise the bike's gearbox will not work and more complex problems are created at heavy repair costs. Infact if you exceed even you apply full force on 1st gear the bike will not even move a inch on sloppy areas. Please apply correct mechanism while gear changing for enjoying smooth rides with girlfriend otherwise the bike will stall.
Always apply choke for cold start. leave it for 5 seconds then release the choke and move to 1st gear and ride. Every morning please put the gear to neutral and turn off the bike key. Apply the kick start 6 time. then Self start. It make the engine oil apply all around and prevent the engine from turning off.
