I own cbs version of hornet and i bought it from vashi, navi mumbai (vihaan honda). Till date driven this bike for 3,000 km Overall buying experience was average. Like every other honda dealer, they don't bother providing good service once payment is done. Riding experience - good bike with handling and braking. No worries from skiding or overturning. Cbs works all fine and it's upright posture while driving makes it comfortable to ride for even long distance. I have been riding this bike in mumbai city traffic as well as on highway without any problems. (4/5 rating)Looks - it looks great and definitely an eye catcher. Sharp looks and muscular body, nice combination (4/5 rating)Performance - not really satisfied with overall performance. It is amazing bike when one rides at mid speed. Very monotonous with pick up and lacks initial thrust. With mid range speed (40-70 kmph), engine is super smooth and one would not notice riding at 70+ kmph speed. However, once you reach above 75+ kmph, engine starts dragging, suddenly vibrations starts and engine behaves very differently. No smoothness above 75kmph at all. Although handling at higher speed is again very good, one would refrain from going above 70 kmph due to louder engine sound and vibration. (2.5 / 5 rating)Mileage - mileage is just ok. If one rides within 65-70kmph and doesn't throttle aggressively (above 6k rpm) it would fetch a mileage of 47-49 kmpl. If sudden throttle and high speed is being maintained, bike still would comfortably give 45 kmpl. (3.5 / 5 rating)Other features - this bike has got very basic features. No engine kill switch (it doesn't bother me much though), just basic details on digital meter and even switch gear is as old as hero honda splendor (2.5/5 rating)Service and maintenance - i have done only first service and my overall experience was not that great. Didn't find mechanic very knowledgeable and was doing primary checks while service. Service centre charging 290 rs for chain lube which i find too much for one time line. After service, i called up service centre for clarifying my doubt over sudden vibrations and engine sound after 75kmph or 6,000 rpm, service centre had very lame excuse - " your bike is just 900 km old and engine is yet to attain desired smoothness / refinement. It would not cause noise afterwards". I wasn't convinced with this answer but still decided to wait for speeding above 70kmph. Now i'm reaching 3,000 km riding and still issue of vibration and engine noise continue after 70kmph. (2.5/5 rating)So overall - it's good bike with limited features. Engine is still good but one need to check his / her requirement before buying it. If u want to ride speeding above 80 kmph and still don't wanna feel niggles under your feet, then probably this is not a bike you are looking for. It is good bike for daily commute with routine mid riding speed Pros - good looks, avg mileage, handling, braking, good mid range performance Cons - sloppy engine performance on high speed, very basic features with switch gears and meter(ps - i have driven this bike for 3,000 km with lot of care and as per user manual. I didn't speed it over 55kmph for first 650 km since it was advised to do running-in for 500 km. Later on after advise from service centre, i did not speed it up above 70 kmph).
Tips for Honda CB Hornet 160R
Engine performance is not very satisfying and it might be linked to engine oil too. Honda OES is what they recommend, however i don't think it is best option for longevity of engine. Think of changing to some other alternative after 5,000 km
