1. Gone Scooty hunting to Honda and bought the matt grey color, instant attraction. Got it for cash hassle-free paperwork done by Dristi Honda.2. Very peppy, light, and refined like butter.3. No-nonsense design, evergreen one,Performance is so peppy, just shoots once you open the throttle, manuveability is so easy in traffic.4. Serviced every 2500km basic oil change and air filter change, maintenance is so easy. Just changed the rear tire once. A Scooty for the ages if you maintain.5. ProsA: peppy refined engine(none can be like Honda)B: very low maintenance cost.C: lightweight, one to ride in horrendous traffic.ConsA: should have a digital instrument and Bluetooth connectivity.B: lacks a disc brake at the front.

I regret buying the Activa 6g.

It's the worst scooter from Activa so far yet the rear suspension is very stiff that it gave me lower back pain even though the acceleration is very much reduced only after 60 its acceleration is good top speed is good. I won't recommend the 6g to anyone save a bit of money and go for the Activa 125 which is better.

Activa 6g - my partner in my journey to success
1 year ago
Tulsidas
My experience with honda activa 6g standard edition:-The covid-19 pandemic has changed our lives irrevocably in many ways. It has cost many lives, has taken away the means of livelihood for many and had similarly affected our family in 2020 when covid-19 struck India. My father runs a business of general clothing in a village near arambagh, which is a town about 80 kms northwest of kolkata. Being a small business in itself, it came to a standstill when the lockdown was announced. After the resumption of normal life after a few months, the business had suffered so much that we had to look for an alternative method to sell our merchandise to get a square meal a day. I decided to advertise our products on social media platforms and then deliver the things to customers’ homes according to the orders received. However, this process of delivering items was becoming quite difficult as I had started the process on my bicycle. We then thought of buying a two-wheeler to hasten the delivery process. After a couple of weeks of searching on the internet, and on the recommendation of a few friends, we brought home a gorgeous, blue honda activa 6g of the standard edition. As we could not afford to pay the whole amount at once, we had opted for a loan from a leading bank in our locality. The joy of homecoming of the scooter was akin to that of the addition of a member to the family. The business received fresh air as I was then able to quickly deliver the orders received, and since then scooter has been a part of our lives and success in our small business. In this article, I will try to chart the positives and negatives of the scooter in an unbiased manner.Rating parameters:-A) visual appeal:- to tell the truth, I had received a pleasant surprise when I went to the honda showroom and cast my eyes on the honda activa 6g. I have seen the older versions of the activa in our locality, and the present 6g version posed a stark difference from the previous ones. The 6g model sports a fresh design, right from the chrome-plated bits on the front panel to the sculpted body at the front, sides and back. The interior side of the scooter - that faces the rider - carries a matte black finish, and gives an overall premium look to the scooter. The beauty that i own sports a decent blue outer colouring, and is absolutely much more attractive than the older activas that we are used to seeing on the roads. Hence, i would give 4.5 points on this parameter.B) reliability:- honda has been so consistent with the quality of the activa over the decades since its launch, that “activa” has literally become synonymous with “scooter” for the common Indian. Keeping with its fame, i have never been let down by this scooter during these two years. I have travelled far and wide from my village on this scooter to deliver orders, from scorching summer afternoons, heavy monsoon rains to chilly winter mornings, but never have I faced any problem with this scooter. This scooter will fetch 5 points from me on the matter of reliability.C) comfort:- on this parameter, the activa 6g has been average. The engine is smooth and does not produce significant vibrations while revving hard, the larger front wheel helps to sail through the rough, uneven village roads without any fear of tumbling over, while the seat is long, soft and broad and offers a comfortable seating experience for both the rider and the pillion; but the shock absorbers are hard and offer a relatively bumpy ride on uneven roads. Also, the metal body of the scooter seems to add to its weight, and women often find it bulky and difficult to handle or manoeuvre. Overall, I would give 3.5 points for comfort.D) service experience:- while honda evokes respect in matters of quality of its bikes and scooters, the service experience is average. Servicing at their centres entails a few basic checks and cleaning; while the personnel present, there are more interested in selling add-ons, accessories, crash-guard sets or insurance. However, i stick to the normal servicing schedule at authorised honda service centres as my scooter is still covered under the warranty period. I prefer to periodically replace the engine oil with the recommended grade of engine oil at the service centre itself, as it helps to keep the engine smooth. For this parameter, i will give 3 points.E) value for money:- the honda activa is a purely value-for-money scooter. It is very reliable and offers ample mileage, and hence has consistently been one of the highest-selling scooters in our country. The fuel-injection technology ensures better utilisation of fuel, hence adding to its mileage, and also offers clean technology due to lower emissions. All these will earn 4.5 points on this parameter.F) performance:- I have found the performance of activa 6g to be pretty average. I have used scooters of other models of honda - like the grazia and duo - and they feel quite peppy and more appealing, both in terms of looks and performance. The activa 6g is slow to accelerate at the beginning and the brakes do not seem to bite confidently at higher speeds. The stiff suspension has often given me backaches after long rides. Overall, in terms of performance, the activa 6g deserves 3 points.G) maintenance cost:- the activa 6g is easy to maintain and has cheap and easily-available spare parts. Also, since the activa brand has been in the market for many years, mechanics for this model can be easily found in any garage. All these contribute to earning 5 points for the scooter.H) extra features:- the standard model of the activa 6g comes with some helpful updates like the external fuel filling lid, start and stop switch (which comes very handy in traffic conditions when the scooter is idling, and hence helps to cut down on fuel cost considerably), silent start system (i simply adore this small but helpful feature, as this eliminates the irritating noise that is produced while starting the scooter) and an all-in-one locking unit that can be used to control the ignition, external fuel lid, seat cover lock and handle lock. The under-the-seat storage is spacious and helps store some usual things like the helmet, vehicle documents or a few odd items. The led headlight is a very useful addition, too, as it helps to get a clear view of the road at night. This feature has been especially advantageous for me as I have to ride at night on bumpy village roads which are often devoid of street lights. However, the activa 6g does not offer any special features like gps, google maps, online connectivity, over-the-air software updates, anti-theft tracker or side-stand alarm, which are now available with many other scooters. The instrument cluster is also a basic one, with analogue speedometers and odometer. I think that honda should have included some modern features like a fully digital instrument cluster and Bluetooth connectivity, and hence I will give only 2.5 points on this matter. To sum up, the positive points of the activa 6g are that it is a highly reliable and easily maintainable scooter that has consistently been one of the highest-selling two-wheelers and scooters in India. On the other hand, its negative points include average performance, average comfort, moderate service experience and lack of any modern-day digital feature. On the whole, I would rate the honda activa 6g standard model with 3.88 points, based on my experience.
