I have been riding motorcycles for years, but after owning the Ultraviolette X47 Desert Wing, I realised that numbers on a specification sheet don't tell the whole story.
The X47 has completely redefined what I expect from a motorcycle.
Performance
The first thing that strikes you is the instant torque.
There is absolutely no waiting for the engine to build revs or find the right gear. Twist the throttle and the motorcycle responds immediately. The acceleration feels effortless and addictive, especially in city traffic where quick overtakes become second nature.
After getting accustomed to this electric power delivery, I recently test rode the Yamaha XSR155. Although it's a beautiful motorcycle with an attractive retro design, its initial pickup felt surprisingly dull. Even my TVS Ntorq scooter felt more eager from a standstill. That's when I realized how spoiled I had become by the X47.
Suspension & Ride Quality – The Hidden Masterpiece
If there's one thing Ultraviolette absolutely nailed, it's the suspension.
This motorcycle simply glides over rough roads.
Even after riding through Bengaluru's broken roads every day, the suspension absorbs potholes so well that my 40 km daily office commute feels like butter.
I recently rode the XSR155 over the same rough stretch and immediately felt shocks transferring to my forearms and lower back. Every small pothole announced itself.
The X47, on the other hand, remains composed and planted.
The low center of gravity created by the battery pack makes an enormous difference. The motorcycle feels incredibly stable during cornering, braking and while riding over uneven roads.
Honestly, the comfort reminded me more of a premium cruiser than a performance motorcycle.
Seating Position
The riding posture strikes an excellent balance.
It is sporty enough to inspire confidence yet relaxed enough that long rides never become tiring.
Unlike many sporty motorcycles that load your wrists heavily, I rarely experience fatigue even after long commutes.
Stability
This is where the X47 shines.
The motorcycle feels glued to the road.
Whether you're accelerating, changing lanes or negotiating corners, the planted feel inspires tremendous confidence.
After riding lighter petrol motorcycles, I now realize how much the X47's low center of gravity contributes to this confidence.
Battery & Real-World Range
Initially I was worried because my battery would stop charging at 93%. After a service center visit, it started charging to 100% normally.
Once I adapted my riding style, the range improved dramatically.
My real-world observations:
Glide Mode: ~320 km
Combat Mode: ~235–240 km
Ballistic Mode: ~180 km
Average consumption has improved from around 50–55 Wh/km initially to approximately 42–43 Wh/km after learning smoother throttle control.
These numbers have been consistently achievable during my usage.
Running Cost
This is the cherry on top.
My office provides free charging.
That means my daily commute costs me virtually ₹0.
No petrol.
Minimal maintenance.
No engine oil.
No clutch.
No gearbox.
Over time, this becomes one of the biggest ownership advantages.Build Quality

Fit and finish feel premium, and the motorcycle attracts attention everywhere I park it.
People frequently stop to ask about it.
What surprised me most
I originally thought I would eventually buy another petrol motorcycle like the Yamaha XSR155.
After riding it, I came back home with a completely different realization.
I didn't want another bike.
I simply wanted to ride my X47 again.
That speaks volumes.
Verdict
The Ultraviolette X47 Desert Wing isn't just an electric motorcycle.
It's a motorcycle that quietly changes your expectations.
Once you become accustomed to:
instant torque,
plush suspension,
incredible stability,
refined ride quality,
and near-zero commuting cost,
Many small-capacity petrol motorcycles begin to feel like a compromise rather than an upgrade.
For me, this has been one of the most satisfying purchases I've ever made.

This is, of course, my personal ownership experience after months of riding the bike in real-world Bengaluru conditions. Riders who prefer the sound, gearbox, and character of petrol motorcycles may value different qualities, but for my daily commute and riding style, the X47 has been an outstanding fit.

I recommend this bike any one value for money. I gave 5 star rating this bike. The Ultraviolette X47 Crossover is built as an aggressive, multi-terrain electric motorcycle. It shares the same core electric motor architecture as the sportier F77 Mach 2, but features a larger rear sprocket, completely shifting its performance dynamic toward immediate, off-the-line acceleration at the expense of a minor reduction in top speed.

Great bike overall, though i would suggest getting a cushioning on the pillion seat as it's a little hard. Good riding posture for longer rides. Very good range and speed. Loaded with features and good build quality. I prefer for to go for a higher model for better range and longer rides. The fast charger takes about one and half hours.

Extremely disappointed with the after-sales service in Chennai. Bought the X47 in March’26 and have already faced multiple scary software glitches while riding at 100 km/h. The customer support is severely lacking, with slow responses, poor communication, and zero accountability. Having such a frustrating experience just a few months into ownership is unacceptable. Think twice if you expect reliable post-purchase support.

Very Bad experience, bike is stopped and it is not stating even after restart, service guy also don't know the issue, we book RCA to tow to UV service station, battery draining is too fast, they said 1st and 2nd service is free but they said only lebour charges are free and for chain cleaning spray and cleaner they charged 350/- Rs, everything is ok but being a new ev bike how it will stop in mid way automatically. I feel the services and spare parts would be more expensive than any bike.

I purchased this bike just 3 weeks ago; it's a pathetic one. No radar fixed as they promised, battery draining 1% per 1 km, very slow map loading, lots of software issues, fit and finish issues, charging lid not closing properly, the upgrade pack price is too high, service persons not trained well, they are unaware of the repair or giving any solutions. The showroom people are charging an extra 20k to 10k as admin charges Regretting why I regret purchasing this bike. It's always better to purchase bikes. This bike's asking price is too high for its performance, not worth buying.
