    Shreyas Jaguar

Before I review this bike, I have a suggestion for the guys who are planning to buy/test ride one. When you take a test ride, REMEMBER TO RIDE THIS ON BAD ROADS. I cannot stress this enough.
Now, coming to review. I got a carb version for 1.19 lakhs and its a poora paisa vasool bike. Let's start from the front. The retro style led headlamps looks brilliant. The all digital instrument panel is feature filled, which includes gear position indicator. The Bluetooth navigation works fine, better than expected tbh. The width of the tank is sufficient, you can easily hug the tank with your knees. Now coming to engine, it produces around 18 bhp which sufficient in my opinion. You don't have to rev the engine too much to extract power.
Personally, I love how the throttle feels on this bike. Experiment with it till you get that sweet feel where everything feels effortless.
Why should you buy this bike? I got two words, CHASIS and SUSPENSION. You will realize how good the bike is, only when you take it off road. The front suspension along with the 21 inch tyres and 220mm ground clearance, it can go on anything . The bike is best enjoyed while saddling. Yes it is not as powerful as himalayan and cannot out do it on the highway. But man o man! Off road is super fun on the Xpluse. It will put a smile on your face when you see guys with bullets and ktms struggling on bad roads and you just zoom past them. Absolutely priceless.
CONS: The seat is not at all comfortable for long rides. I recommend that you get some extra cushioning from a local shop.
    2) The first gear is seriously short. It's really useless to be honest. In city traffic, you have to constantly change between second and first, which can get annoying.
    3) The rear could have been designed to look better.
For the price range, you cannot ask for anything more. Double thumbs up from me.

The buying experience was superb, the bike is very comfortable, the handlebar is wide enough and complementing with the high shock absorbers gives a great riding experience. This bike looks like a premium segment bike, you can use this bike for both on-road and off-road, now coming to its mileage it gives around 40 to 45 kmpl. Yet i have not got any type of service issue Overall the bike is very good for daily use. But in my point of view (on-road) 1 lakh 15 thousand is little high priced Unique additional features in this bike 1- bluetooth connectivity (you can see who is calling you)2- gps navigation using (hero ride guide app) via bluetooth 3- charging dock under the seat 4- luggage carrier.

I proudly an owner of 200.It's good commuter bike and best choice for Indian road. I brought carb edition on aug 2019. Completed 2 service. I will tell you my 3 month experience about the bike. Pros, good design. Better handling. Most affordable budget 200cc bike in the market. Best off-road bike compare with himalayan very lightweight so we can easily handle. Service cost is very cheap.Advanced digital meter.Low maintenance service cost around 400-500 each service.Build quality is very good.Have 5 year warranty so no worry about that. Good cornering ability. Good ground clearance.Suitable to short and tall peoples. No worry about potholes . Headlight visibility is poor.Seat comfort is not up to mark.Abs is very sensitive so sometimes break will hard.In my viewpoint it's best for city ride, commuter usage and compare with himalayan . If you looking for touring himalayan is best because it's seat comfort is far better than now hero introduce after market seat for touring. Got 44kmpl mileage. Now awarded Indian motor cycle of the year 2020. I think my review is helpful for everyone. Thanks for everyone to read my review

We are at that time in india we don't have too many off roading bikes options, xpulse is the cheapest himalayan is the only one but it prices almost doubled, xpulse has some nice features as well himalayan cluster is good but not always useful and royal enfield is known for heavy bike makes offroading some difficulty.

  • Good & bad things of the xpulse 200 according to a owner

    Aditya Dhonde

*this review contains point wise good and bad bits of the bike instead of brief explanations which helps in quick reading and knowing the bike in short span Good things of the xpulse 200:-1) suspension setup and rugged nature of the bike - if good suspension setup is your high priority or your municipality does not maintain the roads well, buy this bike eyes closed.2) unique looking motorcycle - the bike's dirt/mx bike like styling and the beak surely grabs attention of lot of people when you are out on the road or the bike is just standing in the parking lot. If you like being exclusive and different from the crowd, get this bike.3) cheap & easy to maintain - the maintenance and servicing of the bike is very cheap considering its a 200cc, rs. 1.3lakh bike. (1st servicing costed me just rs.450 which is nearly similar to my tvs jupiter, the bike returns around 38-43 kmpl average in mix conditions, oem spare parts are cheap and of good quality, being a hero motorcycle spare parts are easily available). If you want a bike which has good performance but also needs to be cheap to own, buy this bike.4) all rounder ability - this bike is a complete package for those who want a bike which can be comfortable for commuting within the city as well as it is comfortable on highways rides with decent performance.5) the xpulse 200 is a bike which boasts simple automotive engineering which keeps away the huge repair bills, increases the scope of simple maintenance diy's, and also helps it to be modification friendly especially for those who want to transform the into pure offroader unlike other 200cc bike which has very complex engineering behind them for eg) ktm's high compression engines.6) i have a really good experience with the build quality and long term reliability of hero motocorp's motorcycles. My family still has 30 year old and another 17 year old 100cc hero motorcycles which still are in great condition today.7)torque management on the bike is really good for offroading and city situations( pick up easily from 30kph in 5th gear without engine knocking) and is average for highway use, as it lacks top end. Bad things of the xpulse:-1) the abs system at the front is ultra sensitive or is not well calibrated, it engages when it should not normally. For eg) going over gravel or rumbbler strips.2)the rear break has strong bite which locks the wheel easily in panic or emergency situations.3) seat cushioning is too soft and starts to hurt your butt on long rides4) pillion seat is uncomfortable for long rides due to its lack of cushioning and small size 5) the hero's app and navigation system is buggy and works good just 2 out of 10 times6) initial batches of xpulse had rusting issue around the spokes, many owners got a free change of wheels after lot of complaints (still not an issue on my bike though)7) due to tall nature and huge 21inch front wheel of the bike, the bike is not as nimble as other 150-200cc bikes in the market. Additional notes:-1) my xpulse has done around 5500 kms and there have been no major problems2) 38-40 kmpl in city, 40-45 kmpl on highway3)abs issue is correctable at service center as per news sources.4) the grip in rainy season of the knobby type tires is inherently low, so bikes having theses type of tires suffer from low grip in monsoon.5) you can get used to the soft seat cushioning over the time.6) the bike cruises at 100kmph @ 7000 rpm and 80-90 kmph between 5500 and 6500 rpm7) top speed personally achieved is 118 kmph 8) this bike is not be liked by those who like high revving engines like ktm and bajaj's 200cc engine as their performance is way superior than xpulse, or those who are going to buy a bike based on pure engine performance.

Very nice bike for both on-road and off-road. Great experience But very less mileage 35 Compared to other 200cc bikes the cost is less and service cost is also responsible. For long ride very nice bike and it gives upto 40kms And green colour bike is very attractive, very good bike with less price so everyone can buy.

Good for terrain and not for touring. but the main problem for pillion is the grab rail has very difficult for pillion. it's grabbing on the back side of pillion. riders seat is small width so that not comfortable for touring. have 6 speed gear box. only buy fuel injection.shock suspension is good for rider and pillion.

rode this for over 500 kms now. Was really impressed by the performance. the best part is the suspension. soaks up pretty much everything without you feeling the hit. the only things that I didn't really like are the seats and the knuckle guards. the seat is not suitable for long rides. one would need additional cushioning. while the knuckle guards barely do anything. but apart from this the bike is built like a tank.

be careful with the navigation as it may be a little confusing till one gets used to it. if you plan on buying aftermarket knuckle guards (ex- acerbis) you would have to cut the levers a little or buy short levers. the break lever gets really firm once the ABS kicks in. be careful with it. check and adjust the headlamps at the showroom itself. upgrading to BMC or K&N could be a good idea. will share a review on that separately.

  • For Terrain

    Suhail

Good for terrain and not for touring. but the main problem for pillion is the grab rail has very difficult for pillion. it's grabbing on the back side of pillion. riders seat is small width so that not comfortable for touring. have 6 speed gear box. only buy fuel injection.shock suspension is good for rider and pillion.

  • A happy customer

    David

rode this for over 500 kms now.

    Tips for other riders

be careful with the navigation as it may be a little confusing till one gets used to it. if you plan on buying aftermarket knuckle guards (ex- acerbis) you would have to cut the levers a little or buy short levers. the break lever gets really firm once the ABS kicks in. be careful with it. check and adjust the headlamps at the showroom itself. upgrading to BMC or K&N could be a good idea. will share a review on that separately.
