The first time I encountered the brand ‘Scott’ was when I was in the market for a mountain bike.  Although I was tempted to bring the Scott Aspect 950 home, my limited budget compelled me to settle for something else. Nevertheless, I was glad to have been introduced to this premium brand and this was three years ago.

Now, nothing has changed in terms of enthusiasm. The thing that has changed is the level of adrenaline and fun in dirt riding today, thanks to my transition from a pedal power vehicle to a petrol powered one. Here, there’s more speed, more momentum and that means, it’s more dangerous. But things can get safer with the right set of riding gear and this is what exactly the folks at Scott Sports India had in mind for BikeWale. They sent us the Scott 350 Dirt jersey, pant and the Pursuit 350 Jacket Protector so that we can have more fun in the trails.

First impressions

Terrific is the first word that comes to my mind every time I get the gear out of the closet. The overall quality, fit and finish is top notch. The jersey is made of polyster, so is the pant. However, the latter has goat leather and rubber construction as well. The 350 Jersey is light and vented and the company claims that it will also keep the rider cool during the rides. There’s a bit of padding on the elbow for protection.

The 350 Dirt pant looks supremely durable. It is stretchable and has vented areas to maximise the overall comfort. There’s padding on the knee to take all the beating that will come from dirt riding. Scott has equipped it with leather inner knees for improved durability. It also get ribbed spandex material on the upper knee to accommodate the knee braces. The pant is equipped with adjustable buckle lock and a chain zipper for easy access.

The Pursuit 350 jacket protector looks like a high quality product. With high level of adjustments, the Pursuit 350 looks like a must have product for off-roads. The guards are built and connected to the nylon vented clothing. The access to this jacket protector is through a side zipper, which is easy to use. This gear is loaded with back protector which has integrated protective plates and chest protector. The forearm and elbow guards are adjustable via the belts, so are the shoulder ones.

Pricing

The high quality superior products don’t come cheap. The Scott 350 Dirt jersey and pant retails at Rs 2990 and Rs 8990 respectively. The Pursuit 350 jacket protector is priced at Rs 13,990. The company is in the process of setting up its own online store, but for now, their products can be purchased at dealers spread across the country.
