Introduction

These are the ReiseMoto TourR tyres. And unlike the TrailR, which are 50:50 on-/off-road tyres, these are touring tyres, designed predominantly for spending long hours on the highway, with a bit of light off-road riding thrown in the mix.
Now, we have tested the TrailRs extensively in the past, and were quite impressed with their off-road performance. But they show their shortcomings when it comes to on-road performance. So, we wanted to try out something that was more touring-friendly and something that would be a good aftermarket alternative for OEM tyres. Enter the Reise Moto TourR.
The TourR Story

The ReiseMoto TourR, as the name suggests, is a touring tyre with a 70:30 bias for the road and off-road respectively. ReiseMoto claims that these offer good grip and comfort on the highways, and the large angular blocks provide better traction on light trails and gravel. We will test these claims and tell you how the tyres perform in the real world.
Now, the TourR are more mass-market centric tyres, designed for bikes in the 200-400cc segment. These are compatible with bikes such as the KTM Adventure 250, Honda H'ness CB350, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, KTM Adventure 390, and the Royal Enfield Scram 411.
The Promise

The TourR are offered in multiple rim sizes and width options. And they are only available with a cross ply (or bias ply) construction, irrespective of the size or width of the tyre. We have opted for the 90/90-19 front and 130/80-17 rear tyres, and these will go on my Triumph Scrambler 400 X.

Now, these aren't the stock Scrambler tyre sizes, but we wanted the bike to have sharper handling and found out these would be the best fit when it comes to overall rolling circumference, compared to the stock tyres. However, as we learned later, the 90/90-19 front is a tube-type tyre and the tubeless option is only available in the 100/90-19 size, which is also the stock size of the front tyre. So, we will use the 100/90-section tyre for the future reports.
Unlike the relatively lighter stock MRF tyres or even the Reise TraceRad and TourRad radial tyres, the TourR tyres are likely to be heavier owing to their cross-ply construction. As for features, ReiseMoto says the tyres get a wide polygonal centre for better traction and high-speed stability, while the directional Grove channel should help dissipate water quickly.
The Plan

The plan is to now install these tyres on the Scrambler 400 X. As we said earlier, we will use a 100/90-19 front for our future reports. We will commute on these to the office, go touring in them, and also do a bit of light off-road riding with them. And with the onset of the Mumbai monsoons, combined with the horrible road conditions in the financial capital, we shall also be able to talk about their wet-road grip. So, come back for more.
