The BSA Gold Star is a modern classic motorcycle of British heritage that is now owned and run by Classic Legends in India. The Gold Star 650 is the first bike to be launched in India under the Classic Legends ownership.
One look at the Gold Star 650 tells you that its design draws inspiration from old BSAs. It is evident from the shape of the fuel tank, round headlight, and the curved fenders.
Under the pretty bodywork, the bike has a cradle frame, which is suspended by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. The bike rides on wire-spoke wheels shod with tube-type tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by a single disc at both ends and dual-channel ABS is fitted as standard.
In terms of features, you’ve got a twin pod, semi-digital instrument cluster, and a USB charger.
Powering the bike is a 652cc, four-valve, DOHC, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine develops 45bhp and 55Nm and is paired with a five-speed gearbox.
BSA is offering the Gold Star in five colours – Insignia Red, Highland Green, Midnight Black, Dawn Silver, Shadow Black and a special legacy edition – Silver Sheen.
In terms of competition, the BSA Gold Star goes up against the Royal Interceptor 650.

Namaskar Doston,I have BSA GS 650 legacy edition brought on 11 October 2024 and it's almost 13th months till now and covered more than 12000km on Odo meter.I used my Pyadu (BSA 650) for daily commute to my office on bumper to bumper traffic in daily but I enjoyed lots with the light in weight, low height, easy cruise, turns and not feel bulky like other I already rode ( in city I got 17 to 22 kmpl and depends on my riding style too).I covered Ladakh on 21st September 2025 to 2nd October 2025 via Jammu Kashmir to Leh, Leh to Hunder, Hunder to Thang village (zero point/India first village), Hunder to Henle, Henle to Umingla, Umingla to Nyoma , Nyoma to direct Manali ( having experience ghata loops badly damaged and hugged truck load due Jammu landslide and ruff experience while crossing the Atul tunnel towards Manali, experienced rain , damaged sluggish road , everywhere observed slippery till Manali). BSA gave me confidance to drive road and off road and engine braking next level use khardungla, Umingla and many more passes which I had crossed. Also,I ride my Pyadu on Rajasthan sand and no fear feeling occured during riding.Comfort yes, you can modify as per your requirement but I used stock seat for Long distance ride. It's very small brief about my BSA GS 650 , hope it will help you.

The styling of the bike is what drew me to it . I always wanted to own a BSA and when it became available in india with a modern engine, i just had to buy it . The engine is a single cylinder unit which is derived from BMW Fundura 652cc which was available in India about 25 years ago . The current engine has loads of Torque low down in the rage ( a Feature of Single cylinder engines ) which makes it a breeze to ride at slow speeds and traffic . It has only 5 gears , a sixth would have been better but 5 are enough given the kind of customers the bike is likely to attract . It is not a racy bike but it will still surprise you with its acceleration and easily outrun smaller capacity bikes should you want to do that . The fun in riding the bike is its torquey power delivery and the thump . The sound the bike produces when you decelerate while in gear is phenomenal. Try taking the bike up a Flyover or a bridge at 40 kmpl in 5th gear and you will be love how few RPM are needed to do that without any signs of a let up from the bike . The fuel average can vary from 22 kmpl in city to about 30 on the highway; on an average about 25 kmpl is a fair expectation from it . The bike has a liquid-cooled engine and produces some heat while you are idling it at a traffic stop but nothing that makes things uncomfortable. It also has an assist and slipper clutch in all variants. Overall it is a great bike if you are into Nostalgia and want a large thumping engine to upgrade from your RE 350.

It's an easy-to-maintain, reliable & and value-for-money machine in the 650cc segment. The single-cylinder engine is thumpy & gives good low-end torque. What's surprising is the engine refinement (being the largest single cylinder) & minimal vibrations. Pirelli tyres are good.. suspensions are a bit extra smooth. Service availability needs to be seen in the coming time, as classic legends don't have a very good reputation in that segment.

The BSA Gold Star 650 is a perfect blend of vintage charm and modern performance, designed for those who appreciate the art of motorcycling. Its timeless design, with retro details like the classic round headlamp and chrome touches, evokes a sense of nostalgia, while its single-cylinder engine offers smooth, reliable power for the modern rider. This bike isn’t just about the ride—it’s about the connection you feel with the road, the hum of the engine, and the freedom of the journey. Riding the Gold Star 650 isn’t just transportation; it’s a soulful experience.

Disastrous Experience With BSA Gold star
Vijay
Bought the vehicle on my first visit to the showroom as the vehicle has irresponsible styling and performance. But unfortunately, the vehicle got stopped while running all of a sudden. The vehicle is not registered yet, driven less than 180 km. With great struggle, managed to take the vehicle back home and complained to a service station. Terrible service experience as the team responded after 4 days after recurring calls. The vehicle was given back to me as everything was done and no major issues. The day I took the bike back from service, the vehicle stopped with the same fault on the same day. The battery is discharging while running. I am writing this as I am waiting on the road without any help from the Classic Legend team for towing or repair. Pathetic service and vehicle quality. Suggest people go with a reliable brand. Mahindra's backup is just an eye wash.

Offers nothing in comparison to competition
1 year ago
U Dey
This motorcycle is too little too late. BSA and especially the Mahindra group offers absolutely nothing in comparison to the existing competition. The only benefits are silly sentiment and any collectible value of the first-year production chassis number. I wouldn't recommend any two-wheeler that has been promoted by the Mahindra group. Their four-wheelers are priceless, their two-wheelers are valueless. Their two-wheelers service centers are the opposite in facility and experience when compared to their lavish-looking showrooms. They are selling you a lemon for which all parts accessories and servicing cost a lot more than the resale value of this BSA. Go with well-known well-established brands and models.
