    BMW F 450 GS Summary

BMW F 450 GS is expected to launch in India in February 2026 in the expected price range of ₹ 4,00,000 to ₹ 4,50,000. Currently available bikes which are similar to F 450 GS are KTM 390 Adventure, Honda NX500 & Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. Another bike similar to F 450 GS is CFMoto 450 MT which is launching in February 2026 in India.

The BMW F 450 GS is a twin-cylinder adventure motorcycle from the German bike maker. Although currently in its concept stage, the production-spec motorcycle is expected to be launched in India in late 2025.

The F 450 GS borrows its styling cues from the flagship BMW R 1300 GS. The motorcycle looks like a quintessential baby GS with its angular beak, large fuel tank, sleek radiator shrouds, and the slim tail section. The concept model is finished in white, blue, and red colours, inspired by the GS Trophy colour schemes of its bigger siblings.

At the heart of the motorcycle is an all-new 450cc, parallel-twin engine. This liquid-cooled motor develops 48bhp and nearly 45Nm of peak torque. BMW claims that because of the offset ignition, the engine is rev-happy and quite characterful. BMW has used lighter materials like magnesium to make the motor lightweight.

The BMW F 450 GS uses an all-new lightweight chassis that is claimed to offer agility and nimbleness to its handling package while also adding strength and rigidity to withstand the demands of off-road riding.

The BMW F 450 GS concept gets upside-down forks up front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. The motorcycle rides on 19/17-inch tubeless spoke wheels and tips the scales at 175kg. Braking duties, meanwhile, are taken care of by disc brakes at both ends.

Feature-wise, the F 450 GS will get all-LED lighting, multiple ride modes, cornering ABS, traction control, and more. It also gets a 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity. Once launched, the BMW F 450 GS will rival the KTM 390 Adventure, CFMoto 450MT, and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.

      1. Performance Expectations: The "Goldilocks" Engine
The biggest talking point is the engine. Unlike the G 310 GS (single-cylinder) or the F 900 (heavy twin), this uses a brand-new platform.
Engine: It is technically a 420cc Parallel-Twin engine (marketed as the 450).
Power & Torque: Expect around 48 HP and 43-45 Nm.
Character: The parallel-twin configuration with a 270-degree firing order (likely) means it will sound and feel like a mini-R 1300 GS.
Expectation: It will be significantly smoother than the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure at highway speeds (100–120 km/h). The vibrations typical of single-cylinder engines should be almost non-existent here.
      2. Comfort & Ergonomics
BMW is known for ergonomics, and the F 450 GS seems to prioritize long-distance touring comfort over pure rally aggression.
Seat Height: Expected to be around 845mm. This is tall, but BMW usually offers low-seat accessories.
Suspension: It features fully adjustable KYB inverted forks and a rear monoshock. This is a massive upgrade over the non-adjustable G 310 GS suspension. Expect a plush ride that absorbs bad roads easily.
Weight: This is the game-changer. The kerb weight is approximately 175–178 kg.
Comparison: This is nearly 20 kg lighter than the Himalayan 450.
Impact: It will be much easier to handle in traffic, easier to pick up if you fall, and less tiring to ride off-road.
      3. Style and Design
The bike drops the old F-series look and adopts the futuristic design language of the new R 1300 GS.
Headlight: Expect the controversial "X" shaped matrix LED headlight.
Bodywork: Sharp, minimal, and premium. It looks substantial but not bulky.
Wheels: It will come with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. The top-spec "Trophy" variant will likely have cross-spoke wheels (tubeless), while the base model may have alloys.
      4. Features & Tech
This is where you are paying the "BMW Premium."
Display: A crisp 6.5-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity (standard BMW interface, which is the best in the industry).
Riding Aids: Lean-sensitive ABS (Cornering ABS), Traction Control, and multiple Riding Modes (Rain, Road, Enduro).
Easy Ride Clutch (ERC): A unique feature expected as an option—this is an automated clutch system (similar to Honda's E-Clutch). It allows you to stop and start without pulling the clutch lever, preventing stalling in technical off-road sections.
      5. Value for Money
Expected Price: ₹4.50 Lakh to ₹5.00 Lakh (Ex-showroom).
Verdict: On paper, it is expensive compared to a Himalayan 450 (approx. ₹3 Lakh). However, you are paying for two cylinders, superior German electronics, and a significantly lighter chassis. If you value refinement and brand prestige, the value is there. If you want rugged utility on a budget, it might feel overpriced.
