Best sport bike on a budget!

Just purchased the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 last week, it's surely a brilliant machine from Bajaj! The engine is smooth as ever, and the clutch, although a bit stiff, changes gears effortlessly. Both the rider and pillion seats are soft, which offer decent comfort. The mono shock suspension is a bit on the harder side, but it gets the job done on bad roads and speed breakers. The headlamp offers ample throw at night, giving enough light in the dark surroundings. The Daytime Running Lights(DRLs) make the NS look more aggressive. The brakes and the ABS in the bike work flawlessly, but the initial bite in the rear brake is missing. The three modes of ABS: Road, Rain and Off-road just change the sensitivity of the brake; the ABS becomes too aggressive in Rain mode, whereas in Off-road, the rear ABS gets cut off. To enjoy some Off-road action! Coming to the mileage of the NS, the cluster shows an average of 35 kmpl, but could stretch it to 40-42 if we ride it in a sane manner with an average speed of 60-70 kmph.

What’s Good (Pros)1. Performance / Fun to rideThe NS200 is known for being a rev-happy engine that performs well especially when you push it. As one long-term owner put it, “quick acceleration and top speed” are highlights. It gives you a sporty feel in the 200cc class. 2. Handling & DynamicsWith the newer USD forks and improved braking hardware, the steering is more precise, and it handles corners with confidence. The suspension is tuned well to absorb broken patches and maintain stability. 3. Braking & SafetyDual-channel ABS (in recent versions) improves safety, particularly on slippery or sudden braking. The use of better calipers and brake hardware in updates is a plus. 4. Value / FeaturesFor what it offers in the 200cc naked class, the NS200 is often seen as competitively priced. Its features (after updates) are relevant — though in earlier versions, it lacked some modern niceties. The bike’s build quality is solid for its class. What’s Not So Good (Cons / Weaknesses) 1. Fuel Efficiency in CityWhile highway fuel efficiency is decent, in city (stop-and-go) conditions, it isn’t exceptional for a 200cc. Some owners report frequent fuel stops. 2. Comfort for Pillion / Long RidesThe seat (especially for the pillion) can become tiring on long rides. Also, higher revs lead to vibration on footpegs and handlebars. 3. Weight & Gear RatiosIt is not extremely light (somewhat heavy for its class), and the gearing is a bit short, meaning more frequent shifts especially in traffic. This can demand more attention from the rider in urban conditions. 4. Lighting / Features in Older VersionsMany versions lacked LED lighting or more modern features earlier, which made it lag behind competitors. Some reviewers point out that the design hasn’t changed much over the years, so it feels “older” compared to newer bikes. 5. Vibrations / RefinementAt higher RPMs, some vibration is felt (footpegs, handlebar), which is something you accept at this segment.
