I had the opportunity to test ride a friend's Bajaj Dominar 400 in Hyderabad, and my overall experience was very positive. The buying experience was smooth from what I observed, with good dealership support and easy availability of accessories.
The riding experience is where this bike truly stands out. The 400cc engine feels refined, delivers strong low-end torque, and has enough power for effortless highway cruising and quick overtakes. The suspension absorbs most road imperfections well, making long rides comfortable, while the brakes inspire confidence with good stopping power. The bike feels stable even at higher speeds, although its weight is noticeable during slow-speed city traffic and parking manoeuvres.
In terms of looks, the Dominar 400 has a muscular and premium road presence. The LED headlamp, USD forks, split seat, and twin-barrel exhaust give it a sporty touring appeal. The instrument console provides all the essential information clearly.
From discussions with the owner, routine servicing has been reasonable when done at authorised service centres. Regular engine oil changes, chain cleaning and lubrication every 500–700 km, maintaining proper tyre pressure, and periodic brake inspections help keep the bike running smoothly and improve its long-term reliability.
Pros: Powerful engine, excellent highway stability, comfortable riding posture, premium design, good braking performance.
Cons: Heavy for city riding, average fuel efficiency compared to smaller bikes, and heat can be noticeable in slow-moving traffic.
