The Bajaj Dominar 400 is a fantastic motorcycle for anyone looking for a balance of performance, comfort and touring ability. The muscular design and road presence are excellent, and the 400cc engine feels strong and confident, especially on highways. The bike is stable at higher speeds, and the riding position makes long rides comfortable. It also has enough low and mid-range torque for everyday riding and overtaking without constantly shifting gears.
The biggest strengths for me are its highway performance, comfortable ergonomics, solid build and planted handling. City riding can feel a little heavy because of its weight, but once you get used to it, it is manageable. Fuel efficiency is reasonable for a 400cc motorcycle.
Regular chain cleaning and lubrication, timely servicing, correct tyre pressure and using good-quality engine oil should keep the bike running smoothly. Overall, the Dominar 400 is a great value-for-money motorcycle and an excellent choice for riders who enjoy both daily rides and long-distance touring. 5/5 for me.

The riding experience is where this bike truly stands out. The 400cc engine feels refined, delivers strong low-end torque, and has enough power for effortless highway cruising and quick overtakes. The suspension absorbs most road imperfections well, making long rides comfortable, while the brakes inspire confidence with good stopping power. The bike feels stable even at higher speeds, although its weight is noticeable during slow-speed city traffic and parking manoeuvres.
In terms of looks, the Dominar 400 has a muscular and premium road presence. The LED headlamp, USD forks, split seat, and twin-barrel exhaust give it a sporty touring appeal. The instrument console provides all the essential information clearly.
From discussions with the owner, routine servicing has been reasonable when done at authorised service centres. Regular engine oil changes, chain cleaning and lubrication every 500–700 km, maintaining proper tyre pressure, and periodic brake inspections help keep the bike running smoothly and improve its long-term reliability.
Pros: Powerful engine, excellent highway stability, comfortable riding posture, premium design, good braking performance.
Cons: Heavy for city riding, average fuel efficiency compared to smaller bikes, and heat can be noticeable in slow-moving traffic.

I bought this bike 10 months back, and I have completed 6500+ kms on my bike through all kinds of terrain. I loved the bike's performance on the road rather than anywhere else, as its stability and steadiness give confidence at very high speed and while overtaking. Vibration is so minimal compared to other bikes. I own the actual Dominar 400, which has a 373 CC engine in it. Also, some of the drawbacks are that the updated console and BS6 norms are causing some unnecessary problems in the bike, and the low-end torque is very bad, and the bike weighs so much, and it has a very big turning radius.
Overall, the bike is good as its tagline says "Sports Tourer," its soo usefull for long-rides.
