Got mileage of | 56 kmpl |
I owned an Avenger 220 Cruise from 2018-2024. Rode it for 33,000 plus kms, often 60-70kms five days of week for office commute. Bike looks good and is super-reliable with a smooth engine and uniform torque delivery. Never had it stop on me even once and never gave any starting problems even under conditions of heavy rainfall. Cruises well at 60-70 kms and can hold those speeds all day long but vibrations kick in beyond that. I had the version with drum brakes in the rear so locking of brakes and skidding were issues when riding in wet conditions. Bike is also light at 160 kgs so gusts of winds on highways tend to result in lane stability issues. Mileage was consistent throughout ownership. The cruiser-like riding position and low-slung body make riding it a pleasure with high levels of comfort but any potholes and speed-breakers result in shocks to the lower back. The seat is thin and begins to bite and make riding very uncomfortable beyond 1.5/2 hrs on long rides. My pillion rider frequently complained about this. I have upgraded to a 500 cc bike. But overall, the Avenger 220 cc cruise is an excellent value for money and a great first bike. Bike looks great, is surprisingly rugged and gobbles the miles in a variety of challenging conditions with good mileage of 35 plus kms. The bike is in its comfort zone on highways but also manoeuvres well in the city. Bajaj could have introduced higher-powered versions of the bike and I would have gladly jumped at the chance to own a 500cc version.
Find out the list of available Bajaj Bikes.
The average of the Avenger Cruise 220 is 39 kmpl, as per the owners of the bike.

When I bought my Avenger 220cc in 2012, it was a very emotional day for me. I loved my Bike as it was my dream to buy it. I have a very good experience with my bike, it's a good companion. I've had many long drives with it, especially with the Led Ladakh tour, which I did solo on my bike. It didn't give me any trouble throughout my travel, whatever the road conditions were. It's a tough machine, I must say. Almost easy to handle and low maintenance, cost effective and don't give any niggles.I'll advise every rider to maintain this bike and go for the servicing timely manner. It won't let you down.

Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220, More than 3 yrs use.

There weren't many market-tried cruise bike options at the time. This bike has some issues. It doesn't have a start kick. This gives rise to a major reliability problem. I've suffered much due to this. The stock battery that came with the bike was having issues from the start. Got it replaced under warranty (after some fight with the showroom). Its road grip is pathetic. The stopping power of the rear brake also does not induce much confidence. In testing rides like those in the rain, on remote roads, and in difficult terrain (such as hilly roads), this bike can cause anxiety due to overall reliability issues.

Good on paper but unreliable.

I had an Avenger 220 cruise model from 2016, and I sold it in 2022. During this time, I rode it mostly for fun and occasional commutes, so the total distance covered was 5500km. During my ownership, I faced multiple issues:1. The bike's braking system was hazardous. The rear tyre skidded on wet roads, even when I applied the brakes lightly. Moreover, the grip was so bad that the entire bike skidded and fell on a muddy road at 5 kmph. 2. In the first month of ownership, I noticed rusting on silencer covers and disc brakes, along with the nuts holding the frame together. The oil indicator always showed wrong petrol availability, it increased slightly when the bike speed was increased, and showed low while standing still. The service center could not fix this issue.3. The main reason I am calling this bike unreliable is that it automatically turned off cruising at 80 kmph. I was returning from work at night, and had driven barely 5km on the highway, when the engine suddenly turned off in the middle of the flyover. Thankfully, there was no traffic behind me, so I was safely able to drive to the side. Then I have to drag it to the service center to get it fixed. Turned out, the battery went down. And the reason for that was the alternator failing to recharge the battery.4. The service was equally pathetic. I tried 3 service centers.Center 1 charged me for 3 Teflon coatings, but did it only 2 times. Once the tail light broke and I wanted to buy the part from them, they called me in, and charged me labor cost of 40rs to replace the taillight (cost rs 80), which I told them that I'll do it myself, but they ignored me. Center 2 was decent, but they delayed the service of my bike for 3 days. Center 3 was also alright, but they couldn't replace the alternator for my bike, due to which, my bike was standing still for 2 months, until they got the part and replaced it. So my suggestions would be to be cautious while buying Bajaj bikes. Not reliable, part availability issues, low-quality parts, and subpar service centers will always be areas of concern. Better go with other reliable manufacturers for your peace of mind.

Avenger - Really Felt Like God

When I was buying this bike, had a confusion whether I should go for a street model or the cruise model as both were available in the 220cc segment. Finally, decided to buy a Cruise 220cc and I have been using this bike for more than 7 years and 60000kms crossed. No major failures or replacements in core engine parts. Still gives me 40kmpl on highways and 36 to 38kmpl in city traffic. Also, the bike gives good control over city traffic. Unlike other cruisers in the same segment, this bike has less vibrations and more stability. The braking system is good. Overall, the Avenger 220 cruise is worth your money.

Riding experience is great. The engine feels good in the initial and mid-range. gearbox could have been better and when riding on the highway you will definitely feel the need for another gear(it has only 5 gears it would be better if there were 6). Seat height is good for short people but if you have long legs you might feel uncomfortable. Only problem I faced was the rear seat for passenger I couldn't comfortably sit on the bike for even 50kms straight and it was not just me my friends had the same problem too rider seat on the other hand is really great no issues so far.

The rear passenger seat is not comfortable and the chain system is not good. Chain noise is much. Many times need oil on the chain or spray. Service agencies are not good, they only make money, no customer satisfaction. As per the price bike is not very comfortable.Bajaj never responded to any query or complaints, even no reply by mail.

This bike is all about comfort. However not to forget that the city ride comfort is not up to the mark. Highway, this is one of the best bikes for comfort even ride and handling as well. That doesn't mean you cannot take it on city rides, it manages it well. The engine refinement is little noisy with short gears that demands frequent gear shift according to the speed. Overall, this bike gives good riding experience but not the great experience.

Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220, More than 3 yrs use.
Giri

Good for short people

If Comfort is your Primary

This bike is all about comfort. However not to forget that the city ride comfort is not up to the mark. Highway, this is one of the best bikes for comfort even ride and handling as well. That doesn't mean you cannot take it on city rides, it manages it well. The engine refinement is little noisy with short gears that demands frequent gear shift according to the speed. Overall, this bike gives good riding experience but not the great experience.

Daily and Highway Usage. An absolute beast

An awesome bike, take it on highways, city, or anywhere you want to. I used to ride Delhi-Himachal-Delhi, Himachal-Uttarakhand-Himachal and now I am traveling daily from Delhi to Sonipat and back. Absolutely comfortable. You need not accelerate till 65 KMPH (Gear changes will do the trick). Remains still up to 95 KMPH.
